Utrogestan: does breast pain calm down

I’ve been on it for a week and my boobs are like boulders and really sore. Does it calm down?

Mine took ages to calm down. They were sore for the first couple of years (sorry, not what you want to hear). I now take it vaginally and then, after having a random period, they are still big but no longer sore

Argh I really hope it eases off, it’s been the only symptom. I heard evening primrose oil might help but I don’t want to really mess with anything else right now while my body is adjusting to all this new estrogen and progesterone 🍑🍑

Hang on in there. I think it settles more quickly for most...

It’s the oestrogen part of HRT that causes breast pain, not the progesterone (utrogestan). Sometimes it’s because the oestrogen dose is too high - often women do better starting on a lower dose and slowly increasing, It does tend to go away after a while.

Thanks I’m only taking one pump rather than the prescribed two. Didn’t have sore boobs until I’d been on the progesterone for one week. As I’ve just started hrt I do have a few worries that maybe I don’t need it and am drowning myself in estrogen or something, but it’s hard to know

Just updating to say Louise Newson writes that progesterone can cause breast tenderness when first taken so hopefully it is that abs not the oestrogen

I was under Louise Newson for some time and ended up on such a high dose of oestrogen that I had severe issues with heavy bleeding / clots and had to be referred back to a gynaecologist in the NHS for tests who was horrified by the dose I was on. So personally I’m not a fan at all. I’ve worked with the NHS gynaecologist to get to a lower dose that works for me and still controls my symptoms. There was a programme on the bbc about the high doses of oestrogen she and her colleagues at Newson health suggest; even when someone’s medical history suggests otherwise (as was my case). I think we’re all different but I know from experimentation and experiences with my own HRT that it’s definitely the oestrogen for me that causes breast soreness.

Gosh that’s awful! I thought they were really careful with checking bloods etc (that’s only the impression I get from listening to her podcast.) sorry you had such an awful time! I got really good advice on here when I first started to be careful with estrogen so I’ve not gone straight to two pumps
