Hello as above started my period which was late today and started the patches could be a coincidence but I feel shocking headache body aches sneezing etc but I have just finished for half term so usually the germs kick in. Any advice and I could cry at the drop of a hat feel like I’m not in my own body

I don’t think they would have an effect that quickly, more likely you’re coming down with something

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 26/05/2025 21:17

It took me a full box to settle. Have been on it for almost a year now and it's been life-changing. Keep a symptoms/patch change diary and try to get through the first cycle at least.

I agree with @VanillaImpulse that that would be too quick to be related to the patches - also doesn't seem like the sort of side-effect they would have. Also sounds to me like coming down with something. Hope you feel better soon one way or another.

Thanks everyone I did think that but was fine when I woke up put patch on at lunch and a few hours later feel like I’m around 90 and just want to sleep and go to bed

I hope you are feeling better today? I’m five weeks into Everol Conti and have felt weepy and down quite a bit. As others have said it can take weeks to settle so hopefully the way you are feeling passes - or is a cold!

I was on sequi for a while, but always felt like I fell off a cliff for the two weeks of Progesterone. We don't know if it was the lack of estrogen or the full-on progesterone, but I always felt rough for two weeks of the month.

I switched to full-time estrogen patch (so stopped the 'Conti' part and change patch every 4 days), and take oral progesterone at night. Game changer for me (progesterone made me sleepy, which is not great in daytime but fab at night!).

I'd have been about 43/44 when I changed, and it's worked pretty much ever since (I'm 50 this year).

Thanks think it’s a cold that hit me right about yesterday when the patch was put on! I’ve been weepy without the HRT and rage been awful! I didn’t tolerate birth control pills when I was younger they sent me crazy so hoping this will not be the case ! I’ll try anything as I do not feel like me at all at the moment it’s awful I cry so much and that’s not me!!

See how it goes; it does take time and you may have an unconnected virus, but if it doesn’t improve you might want to explore whether you are sensitive to progesterone (the other options would be a coil or oral).

Good luck, hope you feel better really soon ☺️

I feel it’s defo a bug I’ve picked up from the little ones I work with in school. GP said to trial for 3 months so will wait and see… I do have endometriosis so seeing my consultant in 2 weeks and going to ask them some questions about it too
