What happened to your periods in perimenopause?

I’m a few years into perimenopause (42).
About two years ago my cycle went from 25/26 days to 21/22 days with some months being really heavy and some months being very light. I got the Mirena coil put in and that helped lighten the flow but it never fully settled for me…bad luck. Now 2.5 years later my cycle is starting to go a bit whacky again. I’m just feeling very over the whole thing now.

I’m just wondering what other peoples experience with their periods was? Thanks

I started having heavier, more frequent periods. I was flooding through tampax and pads. When I stared with tingling in my hands I thought I had MS, then I was breathless going up stairs and on walks, had palpitations, but it was low ferritin. Then I realised it was Peri. I had a mirena coil to reduce the bleeding, but with a thought of it being part of HRT. Then I was getting anxious and angry with DH so added in the gel.
Im staying on it as DM died young, and I’m convinced menopause had something to do with it.

Mine were still pretty regular but so much heavier. I would suddenly gush so always carried spare underwear.

I responded to this thread earlier in the year. I did get my mirena changed 2 months ago. First period was okay, this second one is day 12 bloodbath and major clots. I'm miserable! I'm hoping that at least it's not a regular thing , I have had a couple of really big ones like this and seemed like a build up over a few months and then boom! Today I was barely spotting and then all of a sudden a clot went and it's now really coming out of me and I've changed clothes already!

I'm not sure what to do next really.
