Emergency contraception

I've posted this in general health as well but think this board maybe more helpful.

I'm 48 and have definite peri symptoms.
I take the Desogestrel pill, I have taken this for a while. Last night I realised I'd missed my Friday night pill. I take it 9/10pm on a night. I took the missed pill and I'm now panicking because I had intercourse on the early hours of Saturday morning. I'm obviously a pill behind now.

Should I get emergency contraception?
I know realistically the answer is yes, at my age pregnancy still isn't unlikely. How likely after missing one pill would it be?

I feel so stupid, I never miss it.

Personally, if I didn’t want a pregnancy for whatever reason then I’d take it. It will put your mind at rest.

I'd take one in this scenario too.

At 48, with just one mossed pill on the night - I’d not bother. Your chances of getting pregnant are similar to winning Euromillions….

If miracle happens - you can always take a pill later. But the morning after pill really screws with your hormones. I’d only do it if i knew that I was definitely pregnant…

The MAP tries to prevent a pregnancy (by delaying ovulation).

It's not an abortifacient, it won't do anything if you're already pregnant.

OP - if you really don't want to take the risk, then take the MAP. It will need to be Levonelle, so within 72hrs, or a copper coil within 120hrs of UPSI.

This is where I'm at - I think it's very unlikely but also not impossible either. My thinking is Desogestrel stops ovulation and I have missed one pill. No idea whether I'd be ovulating right now. IF the unthinkable happens then I'll have to deal with that.

@Ffstoooldforthis
Just exhale. At your age (and I am near the age to) - it’ll take more than a miracle to ovulate in your circumstances AND for the egg to be of good quality to fertilise AND attach…
Our childbearing age has sailed a while ago…

Enjoy consequence free sex! And - consider getting a Mirena - my gyno advised it peri as it does the progesterone part of HRT….

Well I've been on the Desogestrel a while with no mishaps forgetting it. My Gp has just prescribed me Evorel Sequi patches for my symptoms - I haven't started them yet!

I know it would take more than a miracle it's just the little what if niggle that's been drummed into us ladies since adolescence.

So, I've started spotting today. Haven't spotted in months. I'm a bit freaked out that it's almost two weeks since that missed pill.
