Hello
I am a newbie to this menopause forum.

I have just turned 40, have been experiencing for sometime now thick blob of mucus constantly in my throat, worse at night laying and I am constantly in need to get it up. I have been to the Doctors who sent me for blood test, mucus sample sent and chest xray - all clear but got a call to have repeat bloods in 3 months time, which will be next month, but receptionist said nothing to worry about, it's to monitor, and I know no more.

Now my periods have got lighter for a while and duration less but still frequent. The last 3 months it has been 1 day, and recently spotting in between.

I have since searched about this excess mucus since someone mentioned menopause to me (it never entered my head tbh having just turned 40), and amazed it appears a symptom as read a few times from others experiencing the exact same. Crazy, as would never have thought this to even be a symptom!!

Anyone else here experience this?

Yes! I had the same issue a few years ago. Constantly having to clear mucus from the back of my throat, and always worse at night while lying down. It can be caused by a dietary intolerance -- these can suddenly occur when you enter peri. Dairy products can cause it, or in my case, bananas! I cut out bananas from my diet, and the symptoms immediately vanished.

How did you know what caused it? It is so annoying, at night it feels like choking!!

It really does! I Googled the symptoms, and read that certain food intolerances can cause it, including dairy and banana. I was already vegan, so knew it wasn't dairy, but at the time I was eating a couple of bananas a day, so I cut them out, and no more issues. I'd suggest cutting out one or both for a while, if you eat either, and see if it helps.
