utrogestan dosage

Hi there,
I'm on HRT (50mg estradot) and utrogestan and I'm still getting periods. I'm perimenopausal I think.
I'm wondering about the dosage of the utrogestan. I was told by my doctor to take 2 tablets of utrogestan (2 x 100) for the last two weeks of my cycle and she suggested taking it on days 14-28 of every month and said to just take it on the 14th -28th to be able to remember it easily. On the pack it says to take it on days 15-26. I'm just wondering what everyone else does? Whatever day I stop taking it, I get my period the next day. Technically that should be day 1 but I'm currently waiting till the 15th of every month (going by what the pack says).
Thanks for your help!

I do 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off but also on the mini pill so not having periods at all.

I take it on days 15-28 so the last 14 days of a supposed 28 day cycle. I take it on the 15th of the month as the advice is to take it for a full 12 or 14 days a month to ensure endometrial protection. The manufacturers say 12 (hence the days 15-26 int he box) but lots of doctors say 2 weeks as it is easier to remember. This month I started to bleed before I’d finished the utrogestan but I didn’t count that as day 1 I just finished the 14 days if you see what I mean.

Thanks, so you just stick with the 15th of every month for starting to take them? This is what my doctor said (as in stick with the same days of each month) but then I started wondering should I calculate the 15th day from day one of my period , which would mean it would be different every month. Maybe that's over complicating it?

I do 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off so I remember to start utrogestan when I get to patch #5 in my box of 8 patches and stop taking it when I am ready to start my next pack of patches.

I take mine 2 weeks on and two weeks off. I stopped counting a while ago. I always start them on the same day and my period starts 10 - 12 days in to taking them and it has been very regular for a long time.

You can't follow your own cycle with hrt. The leaflet is saying follow a 28 day cycle but women rarely have those.

in time, your cycles will not be regular longer term.
You might miss several weeks between periods. So you can't wait weeks for 'day 15'.

HRT creates an HRT cycle that is not your own.

Choose the same DATE each month. My consultant says choose the 1st of each month.

This means a 30-day cycle with Utrogestan for 12 days.
You can do 14 days if you want to but this is usually better for women who find the withdrawal bleed is heavier, as more progesterone helps counteract the effects of estrogen.

I agree with this post above. You have to stop worrying about your natural cycle and go with the cycle created by the HRT otherwise it gets too complicated especially as cycles tend to shorten before menopause.
