Sequi then Conti then Sequi again!

After 4 years on Sequi my GP advised I swapped to Conti due to my age and I'd been on Sequi for a longish time.

Tried it for 3 months and was having two bleeds a month, which was having an impact on not only my sex life but was just a giant pain as at 53 I'd simply had enough of periods.

GP put me back on Sequi last month but I'm getting awful diarrhea, bad sleep, feel very low and I've literally put on 4lbs in two weeks.

It occurred to me last night that despite the bleeding I'd felt pretty good in myself on Conti. Sleeping well, no mood swings etc.

Wtaf do I do now? Stop the Sequi and go back to Conti?

You could take the mini pill alongside the conti to stop the bleeding. That’s what I did - I have lupus related heavy bleeding and clotting and so was on the mini pill to control that and then added in the conti as HRT. No bleeding at all. (I’m 44, been menopausal since 37 due to autoimmune issues). If you haven’t been on the mini pill before it can take a while for the spotting and bleeding to completely stop but it’s worth preserving with it if you can.

It's your choice over what suits.
I've been on sequi for over 15 years, with a consultant, so age and duration of HRT is not an issue. There are different risks with conti and sequi.

It can take 6 months for conti to settle.

The weight is a bit odd because most women find they put on more weight (usually water retention) on conti where it's both hormones daily.

Are the symptoms on sequi related to the days you're on the progesterone part? What type are you using?

Thanks both. I think i need to give Sequi a longer time to bed in before going to the GP and monitoring my symptoms so I can work out which part of the month I'm feeling worse.
