Been getting bouts of really intensive skin itching, not all the time but when it happens just want to scratch constantly. I'm using oatmeal cream and e45 itch relief cream which help to some degree so I'm wondering what else you have found that helps

Are you on HRT? I used to get this problem and Ud wake up with blood on the sheets from scratching myself raw. HRT stopped it completely.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/04/2025 14:31

Magnesium supplements sorted mine. I can tell if I accidentally miss a day as I also scratch to bleeding in my sleep.

ohreallyIsee · 18/04/2025 14:35

On hrt and it has definitely improved, I notice if I miss it, haven't tried magnesium.

I get itchy arms when I get out the bath, I think it's because I'm hot. I put loads of moisturiser (just normal one from the body shop) and after about ten mins it calms down. Am also on HRT.

MoggetsCollar · 18/04/2025 17:27

I came to say magnesium too. Stops the itchy skin and restless legs. Double win.

ohreallyIsee · 18/04/2025 17:28

will definitely try magnesium

Does anyone just get the itchy skin on their face? Getting concerned about it.

I'm not on HRT due to fibroids.

ohreallyIsee · 30/04/2025 23:20

Been taking the magnesium for 10 days and it seems to be helping, the itching is less frequent, less intense when it starts and doesn't last for as long. I no longer feel like it is going to drive me mad.

I have very itchy ears. Not able to tell if it’s peri or Tretanoin. I use Aveeno but have to slather it on at night and top up after shower in the morning.

dontcryformeargentina · 01/05/2025 01:26

I’ve been using piriton. It’s stops itching within 15 mins of taking it.

Can anyone recommend a magnesium I can try - there seems to be several different types?

Littledogball · 01/05/2025 08:47

Take an antihistamine every day. The cheap ones from b and m stop my continual itching

I take a capsule, specifically magnesium bisglycinate. DH buys one from Terra Nova which works well for me.

ohreallyIsee · 01/05/2025 21:37

Unfortunately I'm finding the magnesium is disrupting my sleep, giving me vivid and disturbing dreams. Apparently it's a not uncommon side effect, I'm going to reduce the dose to see if that helps.

I increased my HRT and take an antihistamine every night.

menopausalfart · 01/05/2025 23:57

I use Leti AT4 for atopic skin.

ohreallyIsee · 02/05/2025 00:00

I can't take anti-histanines, even the non-drowsy ones completely knock me out(think 17 out of 24 hours asleep!)
