Using Utrogestan Vaginally

So my GP has advised that I use the cyclical part of my Utrogestan vaginally, which I’m very happy about as five days in, I haven’t had any side-effects really which is good.

However, I am worried about whether I’m actually absorbing enough, I feel like this is totally TMI but when I insert them, I find there’s a lot of chalky residue up there that’s not really being discharged out, and I’m wondering if actually nothing is really happening.

And another reason why I fear this is because it’s day six today and I’ve woken up with some period cramping and I didn’t think bleeding was supposed to happen until the end of the Utro course. Background of this is I am 43 and had an FSH level of 118, and before that 45. I haven’t had a period in nearly 4 months so my GP thinks that HRT is necessary.

I'd try not to worry about it. I've been using it that way for a long time (years) and did ask my consultant about the 'seepage' as I felt it wasn't being absorbed. They said that enough was probably being absorbed ( I have regular scans anyway for another reason and the lining is checked as well.)
The cramping is really common and you may well find you're not bleeding early - it just feels as if you will.

Thank you so much for responding, I’ve actually been looking through this forum whilst working out what my symptoms really were, and a lot of your replies to others really helped, in fact it was you talking to another poster that made me realise I could take the tablets vaginally and I went to see my GP.

Thankfully, my GP is very forward looking and took herself to a number of seminars about different HRT options, and so when I asked about taking it vaginally, she wasn’t concerned at all which I think is good.

I haven’t found really any side-effects at all taking it this way, except for sensitive nipples and a dry mouth in the morning but only on some days, so let’s hope that continues.

I do still have a slightly nervousness about how much gets absorbed And sometimes whether I have lost them peeing afterwards. But thus is the joy of being a woman I suppose. It’s odd because sometimes I have no symptoms at all for ages and don’t feel like I need it, but I am conscious that at my age taking it for the next 10 years or however long, will rapidly reduce the likelihood of osteoporosis and heart problems, so I am listening to the experts on this one.
