Hi,
I want to know if there is anything I can take to stop the terrible health anxiety I have been dealing with for 3 year's. Its really affecting my emotional health and physical health. I was never like this before I became menopausal. I was a very confident person but now I constantly need reassurance.

Speak to your GP.

HappyDaysAreAhead · 13/04/2025 20:12

Hi

I'm not sure if it will help you but Menopace supplements seem to help me somewhat. They do take a couple of months to have an effect (in my case).

Other than that I can only say I feel it too.

I'm perimenopausal.

Have you tried anything so far?

How was your journey to menopause?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 13/04/2025 20:16

It’s a very common part of menopause sadly. I found the menopause matters forum invaluable. So many women on there struggling with health anxiety and also whatever symptom you’ve got, there will be a load of other women on there who’ve got it too

Hi,
Thank you for replying. I haven't tried anything apart from menopause supplements. I bought some from Holland and barrett and tried them for 6 months but they didn't help. And then I bought menopace and have been taking it for a few weeks but it isn't helping much. I hope you are feeling better though. I'm sorry to hear you have also struggled. I do understand ❤️
I have Had a really bad menopause journey, so many horrible symptoms and very debilitating. Anxiety and depression and intrusive thoughts and health anxiety and there are so many more x

Hi, thank you for replying. It's absolutely awful. I've never felt as bad as I'm feeling now. I was always a very strong and confident person but now I am constantly asking for reassurance. Thank you for letting me know. I will join the group and it will be nice to speak to other ladies going through the same situation. Thank you very much x

Same here! Just had a light bulb moment when I realised it really ramped up (along with other peri symptoms) when I stopped the pill 5 years ago, so it's likely down to hormones. HRT would likely help me but I'm scared to take it due to fibroids. Can't take ssris due to a bad reaction. Tried CBT which helped a bit. Also take Menopace, maybe helps a bit, not sure. Currently trying working through this https://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/Resources/Looking-After-Yourself/Health-Anxiety by myself which does make a lot of sense so hope it will help. Will also look at the forum mentioned as it's good to find others who are the same. Solidarity!

You are welcome xxx it’s horrible when you feel it’s just you & it really isn’t! Xx

JinglingSpringbells · 14/04/2025 08:24

@NewPlumCat This is following on from your other threads.
You've been given the safest type of HRT a couple of weeks ago but you're too afraid to take it. You've also said you have had CBT.
Lots of posters have given you support and advice about trying HRT. It's really 'over to you' now to try it because you have to help yourself.

Hi,
Thank you for replying. I really do want to try HRT as I am suffering so much. I know I was given the safest type of HRT but I'm still afraid to use it as other ladies have told me they are afraid and hesitant to go on it as well. Thank you for your support. God bless you x

Just take your HRT.

You've been dithering over this for months, been backwards and forwards to the GP a lot, and changed it to a different one as advised here. You've been advised by your GP that it's safe, but you don't want to believe that.
What more can anyone say to help?

Why are you believing 'other ladies' and not all the women here who are saying you should try it? You're believing all the negative things.

If you insist on only believing all the negatives, that is your choice. It doesn't have to be that way.

Thank you for replying and I'm so sorry to hear you are also suffering. I really feel for you. I hope it gets better for you very soon. I also can't take antidepressants as they make me feel worse and I've had CBT a few times and it hasn't helped but made me feel more anxious. I'm taking menopace as well but it's not really helping me x

I had this during peri, it was absolutely awful but disappeared completely after about 3 years - we are all different but I hope this means your HA is in its end stages. I remember thinking at the time that it was only going to get worse with age but the opposite has been true for me.

Are you taking the antidepressants and accessing the counselling? 🌼

Hi,
Thank you for your message. I'm just so scared to take it. Are you sure it won't cause me any serious side-effects? x

For me it was very much 'will the side effects (if any turn up) be easier than what I am currently living through?'

I have no side effects. Life is better.
