Where has it gone?

My sex drive that is.

Background. Had a hysterectomy 3 years ago. When in my late 30s. Before this and shortly after the op I'd have described my sex drive as good and our sex life active. Slowly since the operation it's gone. Completely. It's upsetting both myself and my husband.

Any ideas what I can do or try to get even an ounce of it back.

It's disappointing that it looks as if your surgeon/ consultant didn't explain what can occur after a hysterectomy.

If you still have you ovaries, it's well known they can fail 2 to 3 years after a hysterectomy, even in women who would not normally be near the menopause. If you had your ovaries removed, you should have been given HRT as routine.

You may also be having other symptoms connected with the menopause like vaginal dryness, flushes, mood swings and poor sleep.

Ideally, your GP should be talking to you about the risks of loss of bone density which go with loss of estrogen. And you should probably be using HRT that will sort out your libido too. Some women are also given testosterone.

See your GP and talk this over?

I can't believe thsa you've had a hysterectomy in your 30s and haven't been at least given the option of HRT? Surely this is negligent, the risks re bone health etc with surgical induced very early menopause is well documented. Apologies if there is a health related issue why you can't have it, but none mentioned in your op.

See your gp, ask for hrt. When established on that then in 6months present your gp with the NICE guidelines and ask for testosterone for your libido. Good luck.
