Ovestin only works where you put it. It doesn't help flushes as none is absorbed into your system. (that's probably why you're allowed it if you can't have HRT.)

Are you sure you get an infection from it or is it a type of irritation?

I'm not sure on anything to be fair , the pharmacist said it could be that, it must be coincidence then when I stopped using it hot flushes started creeping back 😪

Ovestin can cause some stinging at first for some women, and that's quite normal , because the skin is dry and sensitive and although not nice it does get better. But it won't give you an infection.

Have you used it as instructed? every day for 2 weeks then 2 x a week after that?

Are you not able to use HRT because of breast cancer? That's the main reason not to be able to use HRT because the modern types don't raise risks of clots, high blood pressure etc etc.

A lot of women assume they can't use HRT but the reasons that used to apply in the past aren't always correct now.

I can't have hrt because of breast cancer my receptors are level 8 , menopause is so debilitating as it is without permanent having uti , I've always suffered can't use bubble bath or certain soaps I've cut down on caffeine and don't go near vitamin c which really causes me awful bladder issues, they say I've got vaginal atrophy 🤣which is a beautiful thought , my colleague said my fanny going to fall out 🤣, 4 years of this shite and I've had enough , I had heart failure two years ago I actually think menopause is worse than having my chest cut open 🤔🤣

You may have thrush which can cause uti type symptoms and doesn’t necessarily cause the typical white discharge if you are very dry. You can take Fluconazole or use canestan and if it isn’t thrush it won’t do any harm but will get rid of it if it is. Ovestin actually helps with UTIs - I have interstitial cystitis (had it since 14) and ovestin is one of the most popular treatments in our health support group, but you do have to use it regularly and consistently.

I will keep going with it , I'm on another course of antibiotics hoping it will end this bout of uti

If you’re on antibiotics I will bet it’s thrush.

I'm sorry.

You should see your GP or be referred to a menopause consultant. There are a lot of drugs they can prescribe for hot flushes- there's a new one out- that is available privately. Do go and talk to your GP- there is help out there.
