Hi,
I just want to know if the anxiety and depression and mental health caused by menopause will ever go away?

I didn’t take hrt as history of beast cancer in my family. I have suffered extreme anxiety and depression during perimenopause and menopause. After 4 years I’m starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Gaps between each anxious/depressive episode is definitely getting longer and each episode is not so severe. It’s definitely better in the better weather too. Hang in there. I think it does get better.

Thank you so much for your message and letting me know. Thank you for the reassurance, it gives me some hope🙏 I pray God blesses you with all the happiness in the world and good health and a long happy and healthy life Ameen 🙏

I thought I was going absolutely nuts by 45. And I was still having regular periods coupled with endometriosis so never thought what was happening could be due to perimenopause. It definitely was, and my mum went through the same.
I went on HRT at 50. Now I am mid 50s, post-menopausal and have to say have noticed that depressive feeling has lifted.
I have had anxiety/depression for most of my adult life, at some level. Sometimes severe, other times I’ve managed it better. But I’ve definitely felt a shift.
I mean I’ve grown a beard, three stomachs, four chins, and everything single part of my body is dry (even my eyeballs!) but my eyesight is now crap, so if I don’t put my glasses on, I can’t see what it all looks like.
Just for the record I use oestrogen gel, Utrogestan and a tiny amount of testosterone.

Depression has eased anxiety not so much since HRT.

I’m on 20g fluoxetine and Femoston HRT. I’ve gone from crying all day and fantasising about dying to having loads of energy and being normally cheerful.
My brain still doesn’t work as well as it used to but I feel so much better.
You'll get there op! 💜

Thank you so much 🙏 I'm happy to hear your feeling better x

Not gone away completely unfortunately but HRT made a massive difference but it didn’t go suddenly… I’d been suffering since it started out of the blue since my late 30’s, and let it get really bad over a fair few years..really wish I had not waited. I feel so much better now and not on Ad’s

I'm glad your feeling better now but I'm too scared to go on HRT due to all of the horror stories I've read about it causing serious side effects x

After a few months on hrt I was advised that I shouldn’t take hrt and my anxiety and depression has never gone away. I do feel better at times but at the moment I feel as bad as I’ve ever been.

In the months I was on hrt I was happy and had very little anxiety, and due to the type I was taking had increased healthy looking muscle tone.

My 3 sisters all take hrt and are much better than me. No depression, but one still has anxiety.

Oh my god I had suicidal thoughts on Utrogestan too. I have never come across anyone else who felt as shocking on this as I did. I took the gel and then the tablets but I felt so poorly on the tablets that I would have thoughts of leaving my family in the middle of the night and walking and walking and walking and throwing myself off a bridge. The urge was strong. It was really awful.

Can I ask what you found that works for you?

I am currently trialing the patches and feel great on the 2 weeks of estrogen but not so great on the 2 weeks of progesterone. The low mood is difficult and the tiredness is off the scale. I feel like a walking zombie until I switch back to the estrogen patches.

I am so fed up and wonder if I will ever feel human again.

I was like this. I can only tolerate Utrogesten and take daily without a break which seems to work better.
