Itching

I have always had very dry skin and scalp and need to put oil in my bath/use lots of body moisturiser/dandruff shampoo.

I've been on HRT for 3 years (currently 75mg oestrogen patches), over the last 12 months my scalp has been constantly itching and burning. I've had some relief using scalp treatments and coal tar shampoo but still itch and burning and have dandruff like flying saucers.

I'm now developing scaly itchy patches near my elbows and in my ears.

Any suggestions? I've never previously had eczema or psoriasis.

I don't know the answer but watching as I am experiencing exactly the same.

I have had eczema since my early 20's. Apart from the initial horrendous flare up of it (which took 13 months to sort) I've been able to manage it through moisturising.

Then I hit perimenopause and it's made my eczema far worse than it was. I now have the additional joy of a range of odd lumps, bumps and warty growths called seborrheic keratosis. On me they start as a rough patch or red spot (not saying this is what you have whatsoever).

Have you tried oat-based moisturisers such as Aveeno and oat baths. Not sure if they will help but they can help the itchiness.

I'm convinced my issue is hormonal.

Large scales of skin sounds like psoriasis. Are you stressed?

I know what your going through
Steroid lotion and dermacool on scalp
doublebase on dry skin
really helps but you need to do it regular

Thanks people so glad I posted here! I went to the pharmacy with all those suggestions in mind and they gave me a bottle of Nizoral treatment rinse and suggested an antihistamine plus Eurax steroid cream for the scaly areas. OMG the relief! Scalp has settled right down but have been washing my hair more rather than less often. Dandruff still biblical but here's hoping!
