Gepretix Vaginally?

Is it ok to use 100mg Gepretrix vaginally? It doesn't say it is ok to on the info. I started on Utrogestan (which I know is) but it's been swapped for the cheaper Gepretrix by my pharmacy. I'm getting progesterone sensitivity & feeling terrible & wanting to try it vaginally. Is there a definitive answer from any meno specialists as to if it's ok to? I asked at my NHS Meno Clinic & cld not believe they would not sanction vaginal use of any progesterone on the basis of it not being licensed. Was shocked. Many thanks .

Asfaik, it's only the carrier oil that is different in the Gepetrix, other than that they are the same. My GP said I could use it.
Unfortunately, I still found I was sensitive to the progesterone even vaginally, not as much but enough to discontinue. I use the combined patches now.

I take Gepretix vaginally and no issues. I did get a no name brand from the pharmacy last time and was woken by the stinging of what I assume was some sort of ingredient that didn't agree with me! But not with Uterogestan or Gepretix.

@Miffyisverymiffed so have you had no sensitivity to progesterone on the patches? Interesting, I don't feel great on my 12 days of progesterone tablets even when taken vaginally.

Thanks both - will give it a go then tho not holding out great amount of hope & bit concerned will cause other issues like bladder sensitivity etc. Considering a different progesterone if not - @Miffyisverymiffed encouraging that combined patch works for you - will most prob be next on my list!

It's the bioidentical progesterone that I can't cope with, my gut instinct is that the dosages are too high, but apparently the dosages are high because it is weaker than the synthetic progesterones.
I use Evorel patches, I can tell the difference between the estrogen only patches and the ones combined with progesterone, but they are far better than the utrogestan. The downside is they limit your estrogen dose to 50mcg (there isn't a higher combined patch) and the progesterone is norethisterone which is one of the older types so technically not as safe as utrogestan.

@Miffyisverymiffed that’s useful to know. So do the combined Evorel patches contain enough estrogen to match my Evorel 50 patch or would I have to get noresthisterone separately? It’s such a minefield 🙄

Yes, they have the same amount as an Evorel 50 patch.
Unfortunately I was on Evorel 75 and there is no equivalent combined patch, so I've had to drop down to 50.

Oh right - it's so tricky. The idea of balance just seems such an unrealistic concept when it comes to all of this. Thanks for yr input x

@Miffyisverymiffed Just had a flashback to my GP saying that she knew of women using Estrogel pumps as well as the patches to bump it up. I'm not sure if she was just sharing but not recommending/prescribing! I think GPs are feeling their way through it all as much as we are

I used to do this, but the guidelines changed and my GPs will no longer prescribe in this way. Now the progesterone has to be proportional to the estrogen in order to prevent thickening of the womb lining. I'm not over convinced, but it is what it is.
