5 years since last period and still getting periods of depression and anxiety. Can wake up one day feeling fine and then the next feel awful. I think the periods in between the bad times are getting longer but was hoping after 4 years this would be over. All the websites say 2-4 years. Has anyone had this and is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Stating the obvious here - sorry- but have you considered HRT?

If you're doing all the lifestyle things like exercise and good diet, it's worth considering.

The 2-4 years is a bit of a myth. All women are different. My mum still had physical symptoms in her 80s- sleep issues and hot flushes. Unfortunately at the time, she wasn't 'allowed' HRT when she was 60-ish (that's changed and I know of women 80+ who start it.)

I'd read up on HRT- The Balance website/ App is very detailed and think about HRT.

Thank you for your reply. I can't take HRT because of a history of breast cancer but was also told it helps with the physical symptoms of meno but not with the depression. I really would like to avoid anti depressants if there is a possibility it will eventually subside.
