Migraine sufferers - did going on progesterone pill help ease your hormonal migraine?

Hello
Migraine sufferer , 46 , peri symptoms.
On daily amitriptyline as a preventative but does not even touch the horrendous hormonal migraine that start just before my period is due and are lasting longer and longer. Last one lasted almost a week 😣
GP has suggested trying the progesterone only pill to balance out the hormones.
Has this worked for anyone?
I’d be grateful to hear your experiences.
🙏

It did for a while for me, but closer to age 40. They slowly came back.

I think mine are more related to oestrogen fluctuations so I hope HRT would help. I'd didn't really though. Have tried gel and utrogestran tablets and then patches and Mirena for a steadier hormone dose which was a bit better. But I still get them monthly. Mirena is still settling down though (only been 3 months).

It didn’t work for me. My migraines were horrendous and really ramped up the week before my period. POP made no difference, neither did Mirena -although I hated that anyway for different reasons, inc 2 stone weight gain in under a year!
I ended up having a hysterectomy due to fibroids and going on HRT and my migraines have been practically nonexistent ever since.

Completely worked for me. Went from 3 a week to not one since 2019.

I’m 45 and I’ve been suffering from migraines for the last 5 years and as well as various preventatives I was also put on the mini pill to try and stabilise hormonal changes. I’m not sure which of the things I’m on work or if it’s a combination of the lot but things are definitely much better for me these days. I am also on candesartan 32mg daily and take rizatriptan for the odd awful one that still slips through the net.
