Hi,
Has anyone who is high risk for breast cancer tried the hormone harmony? I've asked my doctor and pharmacist and they wouldn't say either way. I'm also diabetic type 2 although my diabetes nurse said this shouldn't effect me for this
Many thanks

Could you say what makes you high risk?

What symptoms are you hoping to manage?

Out of interest, I did look at HM website based on posts here.
I'm afraid I have a low opinion of it!
There's a lot of pseudo science there. Flashy website, but when you dig into the backgrounds of the people behind it- well...not all as they seem.

The minerals and herbs in the tablets have no science behind them as far as peri/menopause.

If you want to use supplements to help, the British Menopause Society has a report based on the science that's available, of what may help.
They include herbs etc but also prescribed drugs that your GP could offer.

Thank you, I'm classified high risk of breast cancer because lots of women in my family have had it. So the doctors won't put me on HRT. Atm as it's winter I can handle the hot flushes by going outside to cook down etc but I want to get it sorted before summer comes. The brain fog and insomnia is quite bad too. I will definitely look at the website you suggest and look into it
Many thanks again

If you go to another thread here about Origins Total Harmony tabs, I left 2 links today- one from the BMS the other from the RCOG.

It's possibly worth your while consulting a menopause specialist too if you wanted to do that. The 'rule' they use for family risk is a mum and sister both with BC at a young age (ie not in their 80s.)

Some of the herbs etc that can be used are also contraindicated for women who've had BC- ie those that are soy based.

Distant relatives aren't counted because (sadly) 1:7 women get BC so the odds are most women will have someone in their extended family with it.

I too wanted a natural alternative to HRT as my doctor said I was at high risk of breast cancer due to family history. I'm 45 and perimenopausal so could potentially be on HRT for 6+ years which he said was a risk if I didn't really need to be on it. So I looked at alternatives. I have been on Hormone Harmony for 8 months now but only 2 tablets per day (to try and keep down the cost) it definitely improved my mood and shifted stubborn belly fat but hasn't done much for my brain fog and my moods are still very cyclical (I still have regular periods) so I'm going to up them to 3 per day (as per the instructions) and see if that helps. I've also been looking at Dr Vegan - MenoFriend.
