Tell me about memory problems

I’m 46 and have been in denial about being in peri for the last few years, but need a reality check. Worst and main symptom is my memory; it’s appalling - I broke my expensive glasses a couple of weeks ago by sitting on them because I forgot they were there 🤦‍♀️.

I do a high pressured, senior level job and I’m holding it together there. But everything else is a shitshow. Multi-tasking? Nope. What’s under the grill? No idea. Where’s my phone? Literally in my hand typing this. It’s frightening me a bit but I’m pretty sure it’s hormonal.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Is it worth talking to the GP about it? Main symptoms are this and weight gain. No idea about periods as I’ve had the Mirena for the last 12 years. Any advice or experiences welcome - I’m obsessing over it a bit.

Completely normal! I was genuinely terrified that I had early onset dementia. People would tell me we’d had conversations that I had zero recollection of. I’d forever go into a room and forget what I’d gone in for. I had to write EVERYTHING down, I didn’t know my arse from my elbow. I just couldn’t concentrate on anything.

Now I’m out the other side, I’m much better. HRT helped a lot and very quickly. It would definitely be worth a visit to your GP.

I've just posted on another thread about my memory problems. My memory is non existent - I hope I'm nearly over it, but been 8 years now

My memory is terrible,i literally write everything down if important.
I am way beyond menopause but just think that nowadays we have more going on in our brain. I blame the internet TBH !

Do things change the other side? How has it been for you if you don’t mind me asking?

It has for me, but I was surgical menopause so the effects are much starker because they hit you overnight rather than over years. The brain fog improved a lot when I went on HRT. I was on HRT for a few years but had to come off it last year for surgery and I was really surprised that the menopause symptoms didn’t come back! I haven’t got the brain I had in my 20s/30s, but I’m infinitely better than I was a few years ago.

I’ve done estrogel, Sandrena, Evorel patches and an oestrogen implant and they all helped.

Thank you so much for the responses - this is hugely reassuring! I’m going to speak to the GP - I’ll update!

This was me also (am now 53 and on HRT). I also blame that everything is electronic or needs a password, rather than paperbased - Covid was the final nail in the coffin for this!

I am pretty convinced I have ADHD, and I felt this also complicated matters.
