I'm 44 and in daily pain with this. It's horrible as want to be a decent mum yo 4 yo and need to work/housework etc.
Definitely don't want HRT.
Don't want anybody touching me as I ache!
Any advice would be so helpful 🙂

Not the answer you want but HRT stopped mine totally. Having said that I'm a good 10 years older than you and the pain in my wrists, elbows and feet was terrible. Once my GP had looked at my inflammatory markers, B12, thyroid, iron and vit D levels we both concluded it the worth giving HRT a try.

Menopause worsens joint pains and osteoporosis. Visit your doctor for an assessment and if HRT is the best option, give it a try.

Oestrogen in HRT was the healer for me after years of aching and thousands of pounds of physio.

everychildmatters · 02/01/2025 19:20

I've got to be very wary of oestrogens as significant close relative history of womb cancer.
Hence why trying to avoid HRT 😞

Have a chat with your gp about your family member and HRT. But as others have said it was hrt that stopped the joint pain for me.

I'm now 60 and had to come off HRT for health reasons, but the aching joints have come with a vengeance, so might just be postponing rather than stopping altogether? Sorry to be so negative! Any other ideas of dealing with it would very much appreciated from me too.

@everychildmatters

Try Menopace supplements. It hasn't stopped my aching joints but it has lessened it by about 80%.

Collagen may be worth a go

Pixiedust1234 · 03/01/2025 07:24

I can't take hrt either. I take high doses of vitamins D and B12 which help a little but also glucosamine. You need at least 1000mg but the tablets are HUGE which I struggle with, I'm trying to find a decent liquid form, but they do seem to reduce the pain quite a lot.

DustyLee123 · 03/01/2025 07:25

Get a good quality omega 3. I went from walking down the stairs sideways, one step at a time, in the mornings, to running down them!

I thought I was in peri due to joint aches and pains. I then started getting restless legs at night, it was awful. I had blood tests done and my iron levels were very low. I believe that that was what was causing my aches and pains. I now take various vitamin supplements as prescribed by the GP, and my aches and pains are significantly reduced, and restless leg syndrome has gone.
