Best product for vaginal dryness and discomfort?

Looking for recommendations please.

Haven't had a period for about 6 months.

I was recommended Happy Mammoth products. But at £55 per month they are a bit steep. Has anyone used them?

From your GP- Vagifem pessary or Ovestin cream.

If you're over 50 you can buy Gina (same as Vagifem) OTC but they may go through a short questionnaire with you.

You need to use these for life or the symptoms will come back and get worse.

There are no supplements that you swallow that will sort vaginal atrophy.

Thank you, @JinglingSpringbells. Will look into those.

My GP prescribed Estriol cream which was a game changer for me.

Pigeonqueen · 01/01/2025 18:29

Ovestin used externally and internally (oestrogen cream). I get it on prescription. Vagifem really irritated me but I’ve been fine with Ovestin.

With a good diet and hydration, Mae vaginal moisturizer (Damiva collections) toned down my vaginal dryness and itching. It's also natural and chemical-free.

Jellycat70 · 02/01/2025 21:27

Ovestin on prescription

Ovestin on prescription

This is what I use and I get it from my gp.

Happy Mammoth won't help and a rip off anyhow, Trust Pilot reviews are awful if I recall

Hohofortherobbers · 02/01/2025 21:59

Panorama looked into happy Mammoth recently, wasn't positive

I have high blood pressure and have read that I may not be able to take oestrogen creams - is this true even if my BP is well controlled?

That's something to ask your doctor. It might depend on the cause of your high bp and which medication, I guess - you need proper qualified advice.

IME vagifem (or similar) is great - a tiny localised dose of estradiol, just enough to get your own natural lubrication going again and also prevent atrophy which I wouldn't think other approaches would be able to do.

I'm on medication for high blood pressure, also on full hrt including vagifem, the blood pressure or meds have not been an issue at all. I started vagifem for mainly urinary issues and it's been great for that and also helped with dryness and itching, I'd highly recommend getting localised estrogen prescribed asap.

Another vote for ovestin cream. Brilliant stuff.

BellissimoGecko · 02/01/2025 22:44

Brill, thanks all. I need to make an appt with my GP and go from there. Def want to prevent vaginal atrophy. FFS.

I use Yes organic vaginal moisturiser. Though it is much better now I take magnesium lightly.

I prefer natural solutions wherever possible.

Augustus40 · 03/01/2025 17:03

Nightly not lightly.
