Skin tags in Peri

Is anyone seeing an increase in skin tags and odd skin things in peri?

OP posts:
Lallybroch · 20/12/2024 22:33

I developed a skin tag on my nipple which I had removed and I'm now starting with eczema which I've never had. The eczema only started after I started taking Utrogestan.

justasking111 · 20/12/2024 22:34

Yep it's horrible.

GreengrassofW · 20/12/2024 22:40

Yes just got one really close to my eye! It's v annoying

Mikki77 · 20/12/2024 22:42

Yes!
Usually got them on my underarms but now they're on my neck and one on my face!

dcbgr · 20/12/2024 22:48

It is related to insulin resistance. Mounjaro good for this if you are eligible.

OvaHere · 20/12/2024 22:48

Yes. They got really bad on my neck but...they can also be a sign of pre diabetes or being overweight.

I've recently dropped 2.5 stone and they've improved a lot, not totally gone but a lot better and I don't think I'm developing new ones all the time as I was before. It was one of the things I hoped weight loss would improve.

Obviously this won't be the sole cause for everyone but just my experience.

Scutterbug · 20/12/2024 22:49

Yes I’ve got a couple of quite large ones on my neck!

Snap on the eczema too!

I have several on my neck and getting small ones on my arms. They don't seem to drop off when they turn black either.

Yep eczema and seborrheic keratoses 😭

I do need to lose weight. How much did you lose to see an improvement in them?

Fairly recently. Probably as I started to get to the 2 stone down point. I've still got at least another stone to lose to be a healthy BMI but I'm now 'just' overweight rather than classified as obese.

I'm with you on those. In my case they think it's an inherited feature. Lovely. Not.

Dermatologist said most people get them on their backs or trunk so they aren't on show. Not me! Do yours itch?

Oddly some of my skin tags turned flat too.

Yes! I've got loads especially around my neck and under arms! Bloody awful 😞

I have to say weight loss is so difficult for me. I manage nearly a stone then it's a slog to lose anything more. I am trying.

I know. As if we don't have enough to deal with in peri!

Any of yours turned black and dropped off?
None of mine have. Some are black now but either stay raised up and wobbly or turn flat against my skin like they are pasted on. Odd I think.

I was the same. Carrying it all around my stomach since I hit mid 40s. As a poster above mentioned I've been using Mounjaro which has broken that stone off/stone back on cycle. There are side effects but mostly manageable and it's such a relief to not be carrying all the visceral belly fat which I think in part was peri related.

I will have to look into that. GP says 'eat less/move more' but I do try to and it just won't shift.

Spend some time reading the Weight Loss Injections board here to get a feel for people's journeys with it. It varies a lot person to person. I've found it really helpful but it's not really easy or a miracle cure. You have to make good food choices and learn better habits whilst taking it.

pollypocket90 · 20/12/2024 23:32

@JustLaura mine haven't turned black or dropped off on their own but I'm really bad for picking or pulling them off! Only bleed for a second and it's so satisfying... probably not the best idea like but they're so annoying and horrible to look at and feel 😕

They itch if irritated by clothing or jewellery. Sometimes bits crumble away too.

The biggest one is on my neck and hits the edge of my seat belt perfectly and when I wear a necklace. Dermatologist says to apply vaseline as they itch when drying out.
