Hello,

I’ve a little bit of a complicated background. I hope someone here can help.

in 2023 my baby girl was delivered, I had a very rare placenta percreta pregnancy and due to this my only option was to have a Caesarean hysterectomy birth. They had to take almost everything uterus, tubes, cervix due to my placenta invading my uterus and attaching to my bladder, I have 1 ovary remaining. My other ovary had to be removed due to a large cyst.

The team were hopeful that as I had 1 ovary remaining I wouldn’t go into an early menopause (I’m 37 now) but I’ve been starting to feel very off these past couple of months.

This week I think I may have started having hot flashes, it’s not an overwhelming feeling. I gradually feel myself warm up and it then goes, sometimes I feel the opposite where I have chills then it goes. My libido is down and I’ve started to get little patches of acne. I’m easily irritated and have been snapping at the other half.

its been such a rollercoaster these last 2 years, I’m overjoyed with my beautiful baby, she was worth it all but I am gutted to possibly be starting on this journey.

I had bloods taken in June and the results were all in normal range but I just don’t feel right. Does anyone have any advice on specialised blood tests? Or anything I need to seek with my GP?

thanks in advance x

Did you have thyroid, iron and B12 tested?

in not sure if thyroid is in there, It likely is as b13 and iron definitely are. I have 12 folders on my NHS app for the blood tests and all say ‘normal no further action’ as shown below

TSH is a thyroid test

I can only suggest you print off a list of peri symptoms, tick off the ones you have, and then see the GP and ask for a trial of HRT. Blood tests are no good in the diagnosis of peri as the hormones fluctuate. They may prefer to refer you back to gynae, or to endocrinology, as you’re so young.

Go back to your GP and ask for a referral to a specialist who knows about premature menopause.
It's quite possible your other ovary is failing and you're going into premature or early menopause. You can have more detailed blood tests and other means of diagnosis.
