PCOS - should I be on testosterone and HRT

That's it really.

I've lived with PCOS my whole life and it is my normal, whatever that is!

Should I be getting replacement testosterone along with hrt?

I'm 47, having a consultation with my GP in the new year with a view to starting on hrt.

I'd appreciate any advice about what kind of hrt too.

I still have a good sex drive, but I'm so goddam tired, a bit mardy and quick to temper, brain fog to the max, aching joints and loss of muscle/strength.

Thank you

Oh and I'm AuDHD and really, really struggle with routines like taking tablets. And my eyesight is rapidly failing me!

Probably you will notice a drop in testosterone and you might appreciate supplementing with it, but I don't think it's likely you'll be prescribed it until your oestrogen levels are stable. And you will only get it if your sex drive has been impacted and you've tried HRT, from what I can tell.
Even then, dp only got prescribed it when she said she wasn't in a straight relationship where she could presumably just lie still and not make a fuss. (Disclaimer that I think this is awful, but it was what the doctor implied).
I have always had higher than average testosterone and noticed the perimenopausal drop in levels, but the tests don't go on your own levels but rather measure you against the average, I think.
I hope that makes sense.

Dp and I are audhd too. The patches are easy enough to manage - you can sort of tell they've been on 4 days as they're nearly falling off, but I stick it on my calendar as well.
The testosterone is a gel and easier to manage, I think.

Thanks very much

Just sharing what I've learned in 2024...menopause (until I found the right level of hrt) caused my adhd symptoms to be OFF THE SCALE! Sharing so that others might not think they are going actually mad x
