I put the bin liners in the fridge! At least they'll be fresh.

The doctor may call it menopause - I call it madness. I'm going mad in the name of hormones. I need at least 10 other mners to confess their menopausal madness to put my mind at rest.

Can't admit to menopausal madness myself, as it is a few years of, but you did make me laugh!

weebleswobble · 29/04/2008 20:46

Great! I'm the only menopausal mad mner. Get me a slice of cake from the dvd rack and I'll console myself.

Nero, don't rest on your laurels....I'm 41

I'm a bit young to be menopausal just yet, so what' my excuse for putting my building society passbook in the freezer??????

2sugarsagain · 30/04/2008 06:36

weebles, don't know about the bin liners, but how did you know about the menopause?

shoshe · 30/04/2008 06:41

I go up stairs to get something, can't remember what it was, so come back down, get to the bottom, remember, go back upstairs, forget again.

Did that 4 times yesterday before I gave up and wrote it down before returning upstairs!

It is only getting worse.

In my defence I also have Lupus and Fibromylgia which causes brain fog as well.

(There really is no hope for me is there?)

2sugarsagain · 30/04/2008 06:43

God, I do that sort of thing all the time! Must get myself checked out!

shoshe · 30/04/2008 07:10

2sugars it only gets worse

(and I had to get up the other night, shower, and change the sheeets, the night sweats were that bad)

But my periods have gone from 6 days heavy to two days light

weebleswobble · 30/04/2008 07:31

2sugars I saw my GP a could of years ago because I started showing symptoms. My mum started hers at 40 and sister at 39! My GP told me I could dip in and out of menopause for 10 years being so young (in menopausal terms) and that's what been happening, but over the last few months it feels like I've sunk right in rather than been dipping in and out.

Mind you with rising utility prices I'm thinking how much I'll save on central heating because cold isn't in my temperature scale anymore

I didn't know there was a menopause topic!

Perimenopausal here - have to play give us a clue with people for some of the most basic words - I sound like my Auntie who's had a stroke some days, and it's not just people's names, it's everyday objects.

pointydog · 30/04/2008 08:03

oh no! Since when has there been a menopause topic?

girlywhirly · 30/04/2008 08:35

Ah yes, forgetting what you are supposed to be doing part way through........trying to remember peoples' names........only having a 4 tog duvet all winter.......wondering when your next period is going to happen, or is that the last of them. That sounds just like me.

Strangely, I can still remember most of the time where I've put things (and even where DH has put things on good days!) But I must admit to relying on lists far more these days. I have forgotten washing in the machine when it has finished a wash and discovered it next day!!! I now have a lovely new one which beeps loudly when finished, and if I don't switch it off/empty it, it starts beeping again. I'm thinking perhaps an omega 3-6-9 oil supplement might help with memory/concentration.

scaryteacher · 01/05/2008 22:06

It's not the menopause - it's post natal brain death and it can go on for a long time (12 years so far). I went to put my mug of tea in the fridge the other day when I meant to nuke it in the microwave and I am constantly forgetting the names for things...most things are thingamijigs or whatsits or dooberries in this house.

girlywhirly · 02/05/2008 09:45

I remember my mother would ask someone something, starting with a name that wasn't theirs, then correcting herself and saying another name, also not theirs, until she said the right one!!! It would go like this:

"Sue,(tut to self) Pat, (tut) Ann, would you........"

I wish I had known more about how menopause had been for her, she never discussed that, plenty about childbirth and breastfeeding ( she had a breast abcess) but nothing about menopause.

orangehead · 02/05/2008 09:48

None menopause here yet. But I did put the telephone in the freeze when I was preg, it took me hours to find it

weebleswobble · 02/05/2008 19:39

That's exactly it - post natal brain death with added itch, sleep disturbance (not caused by baby), heat, mood swings etc.....

badgerhead · 03/05/2008 07:45

How about being extra grumpy when your teenage dd starts getting pmt! Waking in the night thinking about the most obscure things & then not being able to sleep again for ages & it keeps circling around in your head.

Charmander · 03/05/2008 07:49

my son put his homework in the fridge. IS he menopausal?

Elibean · 03/05/2008 19:31

I have put all sorts of weird things in the fridge.

Then again, sleep deprivation and young LOs can take some of the blame.

QuaintIrene · 01/12/2008 19:37

And I put the house phone in my bag and took it out shopping.

random · 01/12/2008 19:43

I tryed to change the tv channel with the housephone instead of the remote

coochybottom · 02/12/2008 09:37

I am 42. I went to put the milk in the dishwasher the other day! I am always forgetting what I was about to do and keep getting my words mixed up!

AmandaSerenova · 09/12/2025 16:59

This is very much me most days. My son refuses to help me out and just stands there looking at me stupid until I say what I want to say. Great way to feel dumb in the supermarket.

AmandaSerenova · 09/12/2025 17:00

I have spoken on the phone and told the caller I'm looking for my phone a minute lol

Swellingtonboots · 14/12/2025 20:03

I left my handbag at work two days in a row last week with my house keys in. I work a 30 minute walk away!

I found the milk in the cup cupboard tonight. Quite worried as I’m only 39 and already on HRT since July.
