Aches and pains

Is this normal ? ‘I’m 55 and, coinciding with menopause, I’ve started to get aches and pains. Previously never had any health concerns or pain and suddenly I feel like an old lady. Feels like I just aged 25 years overnight. Is it normal to have aches and pains in your 50s and 60s ?

when I get out of bed my ankles ache when I walk, when I sit down for a while, it’s painful in my hips and knees when I get up. I have a shallow hip socket and this never bothered me before and suddenly I have lots of hip pain.
some other women must have had this experience ???
Im wondering if there’s something wrong with me or if it’s just normal and I need to get used to it, or maybe without the magic hormones, i’m maybe less resilient to stress:
I have a healthy diet, nothing processed, little sugar. I sleep well. I exercise a little. I do have a bit of stress in my life.
I am not on hrt and would prefer not to go on it unless really needed.
i realise this could be early stages of arthritis, but not sure if there’s a test for this.

HRT definitely helped mine. I felt like a was getting arthritis in my thumbs and wrists and that stopped within two weeks of HRT

HRT definitely helped/cured my aches. Struggling to walk up stairs, get up off the loo , bending, housework was even more of a chore and it was all very debilitating. Some days /weeks better than others which led me to think it could be hormone related. Within 3 days of starting patches I could feel a difference- won’t ever look back !

HRT patches helped me too.
Oh , the relief !

Thanks, that interesting. Maybe this is very common,

Me too.

I really didn't want to go on HRT but my joints feel 80 and I was struggling with the stairs in the evening.

Started patches 3 days ago. Hoping for a good outcome.

I think it is common, but of course it could be something else. If you opt for hrt and it helps then you have your answer, but if you don’t maybe best to chat to gp. Hrt has helped me massively with sore legs but I do worry women might misdiagnose themselves when it could be something else.
