New kind of Progesterone pill... bit worried

Just been to pick up my hrt prescription and they've included a new brand of Progesterone in this batch.

I'm a bit worried as I'm allergic to Progesterone and have never been able to take hormonal contraception as a result. It all either makes me insanely angry or suicidally sad ang when i stop I'm completely fine.

I've had my HRT separated out into oestrogel daily and then Utrogestan as a bio identical Progesterone to take for 14 days out of every month so that it helps with not sleeping as the perimenopause has impacted on me with insomnia but utrogestan doesn't impact on me any further than that.

I'm worried to try this new one in case there are any issues for me hormonally or emotionally as a result of a different supply. Its really concerning.

Has anyone had this new batch.... photos below. Its a different manufacturer, different country, although still registered to Besins. Am i worrying unnecessarily?! Really cannot afford to have issues with it cos I'm at capacity and it'll all start crumbling if it isn't right!

i was prescribed a generic micronised progesterone recently as Utrogestan is a brand name which my surgery no longer prescribes to save costs. I’ve had no side effects.

Ok thank you... there's another thread with women having difficulties with the different Progesterone tablet which is worrying me.

No specific experience of this drug but I take various medication and often get different brands of the same stuff. They should be identical chemically in active ingredients. I've never noticed any difference even though some of mine vary a bit in shape and colour.

Can u pin me to the other thread, as I am experiencing problems again with this batch

Sidge · 06/01/2025 06:54

It’s just a European import of micronised progesterone. Same stuff. Utrogestan is a brand name, but companies can produce their branded products in different locations.

Due to some shortages my prescription doesn't give specific names and I have the ones in your picture and sometimes utrogestan100 in the all white box with blue writing. I haven't noticed a difference when taking one or the other x
