HRT and sore boobs - cancer risk?

I have been on Evoril Sequi patches for 4 months and the change to my mood and anxiety has been brilliant. I feel like a weight has been lifted and my DH has commented on how much brighter my mood is,
However I do find it I am experiencing sore/tender breasts at random times. I am concerned that it could be a possible sign that I might be at greater risk of developing breast cancer. I mentioned it to my GP and she seemed unconcerned and just told me to keep checking for lumps. I really don't want to atop taking it but obviously would if I had to. Any thoughts or words of advice? Anyone experienced this? Thanks

Tender breasts can be a sign of too high a dose of estrogen.
Whatever dose you're on there will be a lower one. So if it's 50mcg you can use a patch with 25mcg and take Utrogestan as a tablet for the progesterone side of it.

Maybe the soreness coincides with the progesterone side of the patch? Last 2 weeks out of each month?

Breast density is more of a risk and some types of hrt can make breasts denser.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure what dose I'm on, I'll have to look at the pack later. Yes I think I get the soreness more on the first two weeks when I don't have a period.

Hi OP. I developed cysts on high oestrogen. V painful when they happen but they recede quickly too.

I saw breast nurse who referred for a mammogram as they also felt lumpy. Went private for speed and consultant said they were cysts and already deflating.

Always worth checking though. The pain doesn't bother me and I've stopped worrying.

I have been on oestrogel for a few weeks now and I had a few days of “PMS boobs” where I rarely got PMS when I had periods.

I have put it down to the body adjusting to having higher oestrogen levels as they had probably fallen before starting HRT. So I am not worried about it.

@JinglingSpringbells when you talk about breast density, my breasts do also feel 'fuller', a bit enlarged I guess, is that a concern? Thank you

HRT often makes boobs grow a bit.

If you've ever had a mammogram, breast density is noted (it's on a scale from 1-4) although I think with NHS mammograms they don't report it back to you.

There's plenty online about breast density.
