Oestrogen dominance

I would like to ask if anyone has knowledge of this? It was suggested to me by a doctor and I have many of the symptoms. The doctor wasn’t very helpful in what I do next though.

I don’t know where to even go with this.

I have suffered for many years with terrible acne, very bad periods and had many interventions to stop large womb fibroids from causing issues resulting in a total hysterectomy (keeping ovaries) at a young age as I was so unwell. I had cysts on my ovaries at the time of surgery that they removed.

I now have been told I am rapidly growing fibrotic tissue in my breasts. It’s very dense and painful. This is when I was told it is caused by excessive oestrogen and that this seems to be what I have given my history.

I’m not on HRT, no hormones. Gynae won’t see me as I have no gynae issues. I don’t know what my cycle is as no periods. I don’t know if I am in menopause or peri or not.

I had my FSH tested recently and my FSH was 2.8 which was under the normal limits but GP told me this was a good sign I am not in menopause. When I googled this it said it was ‘pre pubescent’ range.

I have ordered an online hormone panel test from a company online that say they will test oestrogen, progesterone (and others). I had a raised prolactin test 10 years ago they sent me to an endocrinologist who just said nothing of concern. I’m pretty sure I’ve had PCOS this whole time but never diagnosed

Would it be worth me seeing a private menopause specialist who might understand oestrogen dominance? I understand there are increased risks with excess oestrogen. I don’t understand enough about all this. Or do I need to see an endocrinologist?

Hi
Unfortunately I have no words of wisdom re. oestrogen dominance but I’m sure someone will be along soon. What I would say, though, is that serum oestradiol tests aren’t reliable and they’ll probably be dismissed by clinicians.
I’m post-meno and have had a couple of oestradiol tests as at my stage, oestrogen isn’t supposed to fluctuate much and I think the GP uses me as a guinea pig - I tell her that I can tell my oestrogen level is dropping and she orders a blood test, more out of curiosity, I think!
If you do go private, I know Dr Annice Mukherjee in the North West is excellent - she is an endocrinologist and meno specialist.
I hope you get some answers.
