Evorel Sequi patches

I'm 46, relatively healthy.

So for the past year I've had insomnia, fatigue , brain fog, night sweats, missed 3 periods. Aching muscles/joints.

I decided to speak to my doctor about hrt, I was met with resistance as my mother had breast cancer at the age of 65. I was surprised as my sister has been taking hrt for 5 years plus and from what I had read online the issues seemed to be with older versions of hrt.

I have been prescribed oestrogen and progesterone patches.

I've read the leaflet and it's absolutely terrifying. Increased risks of Brest and womb cancer, blood clots, heart disease , stroke.

Is it worth the risk? Has anyone had a good experience on it?

It's what I'm on.
So far, all good.

I think the risks on leaflets of lots of drugs are quite worrying if you're an anxious sort, but you could watch the davina mccall show for a bit of balance around the risks.

I think they work well for most. Did not suit me alot fluid retention on them. My friend is sleeping well and calmer. So suits her well

Thank you I think it's because the leaflet gives comparative statistics between women who take hrt and those who don't.

Has much improved for you?

I have also been prescribed this today, mainly due to aching joints and random anxiety. Feel I need to do a bit of extra reading before (possibly) starting it. My mum had hormonal breast cancer at 58. When I mentioned this to my GP she showed me the increased risk (extra 8/1000 compared with non- HRT group). She also commented that hormonal breast cancers usually run from the fathers side 🤷, ie if dads sisters had been affected it would be more concerning. GP didn’t respite in prescribing for me.

im also interested if people found anxiety and joint pain improved.

Thank you. It says to start it during your next period . I'm currently two weeks late so assuming I will be waiting a couple weeks. If it helps with fatigue insomnia and aches I will be happy.

I've been prescribed the 50 strength. What about you?

I'm on the 50. I found it helped anxiety loads. And I have joint pain anyway with hypermobility but it hasn't been as bad and I've not been as stiff.

SheilaFentiman · 21/11/2024 19:23

Often with drug side effects, the risk goes from “tiny” to “very small” - and there is evidence that HRT can be protective against other conditions eg osteoporosis. But that isn’t in the leaflet because the leaflet (rightly) needs to lay out risks.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 21/11/2024 19:32

It seems to be protective against heart disease and possibly dementia also.

doopdoopdidoop · 21/11/2024 19:36

I've been on them for 6 months now and I feel like a completely different person. Total game changer and the best thing of all is I get really good sleep almost every night

MrsDeltaB · 21/11/2024 19:41

As above. Started in March after several family damaging mood blow ups. I've now got my relationships back with my kids and I don't go bat shit over silly things.

Sweats have well and truly eased, periods are hit and miss to be honest but I'm just happy feeling more like me.

Snowdropsarelovely · 21/11/2024 19:53

I started on this, felt much better but had a lot of bleeding so was switched to the combi patches which I only bleed once a month on

autienotnoughty · 21/11/2024 21:03

Thank you everyone generally quite positive experiences

I’ve also been given the 50. Eeek, let’s see how we get on.

Clazmi · 19/01/2025 09:05

I've been given this too. I'm 49 and having erratic periods but it's the anxiety that I can't seem to get a handle on. I had anxiety in the past but managed it without medication. Now I am on ssri and about to start hrt. Fingers crossed it helps. Be interested to hear your thoughts on it now Elli123 and autienotnaughty.

Elli123 · 19/01/2025 22:40

Only started last Sunday as dithered whether to start or not after opening the box and reading the contra indications. Thought it was going ok initially but feel a bit crap this weekend, anxious, sore joints etc. maybe too early? I’ll give some more time.

one thing that has improved is my sleep!

I haven't started it yet. I got the prescription but I had an accident the following week and spent two weeks in hospital. I'm on tramadol still so haven't wanted to throw hormones in to the mix.

I'm still skipping periods and I also have insomnia, anxiety, hot flushes and night sweats (although these can be symptoms of my meds)

Once things settle down I will start the patches. Keep me posted on how you are getting on.
