Hi all,

I'm 49, full of peri symptoms and I've been on 2 pumps of oestrogel and 2 x 100mg utrogestan for a month and a half now. I take the utrogestan for 12 days. I felt instantly better starting oestrogel and felt ok on utrogestan, then I stopped for my period (carried on with oestrogel) and then felt worse than ever! Terrible migraine, heavy periods, full body aches and just felt dreadful which went on for a week following my period ending too. I'm now past that and feel good again. I know it's early days but any experience of this settling? Is it the oestrogen drops after my period that causes this? My GP did say I could take utrogestan days 1-25, would this help? Thanks!

Would you consider a Mirena coil instead, it’s a lower continuous dose of progesterone?

Hi, I wouldn't have a mirena coil, I know a few people it helps but I have a very tilted uterus and have been advised it would be difficult to fit so it put me off! I don't mind taking the utrogestan it's not too bad, it's just when I have a period then pains and body aches etc are terrible!

It may well settle down but if not, do consider a continuous combined sort Utrogestan daily ( risks with that is it may not control your own periods at all as the dose is half of sequential.)

Or consider patches or tablets.
Younger women (under 60) can use tablets with very little added risk.
Femoston is one of the more body-identical types.
