HRT and discharge

I have been experiencing a huge increase in discharge for the last few weeks and I’m wondering if it related to HRT or something else

I’ve had a prolapse since my last pregnancy 10 years ago but it had more or less resolved itself. Occasionally if I was standing for too long or badly constipated I could feel it come down but other than that it didn’t affect me really. About 4 weeks ago it just came back again but worse than I’d ever experienced

i had really bad pain in my pelvis and lower back, it hurt to walk and I could feel myself sitting on the prolapse when I sat down. After 4/5 days of this I was in the toilet and felt a pop sensation and fluid gushed out of me. It was clear and no smell. I got a doctors apt a few days later, he examined me and kind of pushed it back and has referred me to gynaecology and continence services.

the prolapse has receeded again but since then I am constantly feeling wet. I’m changing pads several times a day and I’m really paranoid about it especially in work. I’f I’m standing in a towel after a shower drying my hair or whatever I can feel it trickle down my leg. It doesn’t smell like urine or anything really and it’s clear.

im now wondering if it’s nothing to do with the prolapse and is related to the HRT. I’ve been on the gel and tablet for 3 months now but I’d rather stop it as this is really affecting me

has anyone experienced similar?

It sounds like a bladder prolapse where the neck of your bladder has dropped and is not doing its job. It does sound like urine.
Unlikely to be HRT as that usually gives more support to tissues.

You can refer yourself to a women's physio and they can examine you and offer exercises. They can also use all kinds of snazzy equipment now to work out exactly where the muscles are weak.

You need a women's physio who is very experienced in prolapse (some work with women post-birth) and get great results.
Meanwhile you can do your pelvic floor exercises (see videos online on how to do them.) Elaine Miller is a women's physio who has videos online.

Thank you, I spent all last night reading up about it and I reckon you are right. I just doubted it was urine at first because it of the lack of colour and smell but nothing else it could be really.

when you say I can refer to a women’s physio do you mean through the NHS or privately? I phoned the continence service yesterday and it’s a 2 year wait for even the first telephone appointment which is ridiculous, I’ll be wearing a nappy by then.

I will definitely check out those videos thanks, I do my exercises now but probably not been good over the years. I also do a lot of yoga and Pilates, am not over weight, don’t smoke or suffer from constipation so not sure what else I can do.

would a pessary help do you think?

I don't want to scare you unnecessarily, but I had something similar, I kept thinking I was peeing, it had no smell. It turned out that I had endometrial cancer, and a watery discharge seems to be quite common. I thought mine was clear, but it became more yellowy and then pink over time. It may not be this and may be linked with your prolapse in some way, but you might want to chase the scan up to get it sooner rather than later. If it is, caught early endometrial cancer does have a very high cure rate.

It's private physio.

A pessary might help. But it would need fitting and the right sort.

You may need surgery to lift everything back to where it should be but they usually recommend physio first.

You say you can feel the prolapse when sitting down. It depends if you mean your bladder or your uterus. I uterine prolapse wouldn't usually 'go back' and stay there.

be careful with yoga and Pilates- some poses/ exercises make it worse and you need to tell the instructor.

@SierraSapphire thank you for sharing that, hope you are doing ok.

i will phone tomorrow and try and find out how long the wait will be. If it’s a lot I will look into seeing a private gynaecologist. Did you feel like you were leaking all the time? It’s not loads not everyone I stand I can feel it.
Did you have other symptoms?

@JinglingSpringbells I don’t know which part of me is causing it, anyone I asked when I was pregnant was quite dismissive so was never told. When it was bad a few weeks ago I could feel it really far down and see it. I can feel it at the moment but ever since that pop and hush of fluid I’m leaking all the time
