Lining question - thin to thick

Hi,

I’m considered in peri on one progesterone capsule and 1 pump of gel each day. Three months things were going well and I was so thrilled it helped relieve fibroid pressure. I must admit I had got curious why some peri menopause ladies only take hrt for half cycles.

I’d had a couple of periods as if they were coming fortnightly and for longer then I have ever experienced but oddly the period cramps were a lot reduced and I’d seen sometimes there is no answer for the bleeds, didn’t want to be taken off hrt for fear of the horrible pressure coming back so it put me off getting an appointment.

I had a scan recently to check on a fibroid (was hoping it had gone but still there, just shrunk a tiny bit) and come away with a now very thick endometrial lining advised and to speak up about the bleeds frequency.

If gynae become involved will they work off the hysteroscopy report from 7 months ago (which at that time recommended an ablation, (I ended up with a coil instead) thought that was weird as throughout nhs investigations for a fibroid it kept being said my lining was unusually thin) or will I have to go again through the procedure?

Will the gynae be able to say it’s hrt responsible? or can they determine if the coil had a part in the thickening? (I’d had the coil in prior to hrt but would bleed a lot on that and it felt painful despite every reassurance that it was positioned correctly so I got it removed after a short period of time months rather then years).

Can these linings also change in a short space of time?

Many thanks.

1 pump of gel is a very small dose, 2 pumps is the usual starting dose.
And the Mirena coil should thin your lining.

You say you're peri - how old are you? Maybe you're still producing your own estrogen, in which case that could contribute to a thickening of the uterus in part of your cycle.

Thank you I’m 43, I insist on keeping the oestrogen dose down as I heard that may grow a fibroid (but I’m not sure that really is right) and if I’m a bit honest I felt sick at the scan being told signs all signs were I am ovulating. But maybe this could be what the next 8 to 10 years looks like or has the hrt kicked started something. Honestly I see women my own age just straight out denied it then I can only think I get hrt as the fibroid is maybe thought of as an peri menopause symptom (along with mood swings) by the doctors surgery.

I had another thought could this be an under active thyroid playing up as I deeply remember being told of in my 20’s. I was getting cold hands and feet which I thought was down to the longer periods but I think you can feel the cold with under active.

Forgive my random thoughts.

I’m older than you at 51. Saw consultant yesterday and was advised on my 52nd birthday to start on one Utrogestan a day rather than 2 per day days 15 to 26.

The hrt is feeding my fibroids but it’s not a problem as they are only 1 cm.
