Hysterectomy: NO HRT

Anyone had a full hysterectomy but not on HRT? How are you getting on? What eases your symptoms ( if any).

Currently struggling with bladder issues right now, but using vagifem
and oestrogen cream.

Thanks.

I had a complete hysterectomy 10 years ago when I was early 40s, can't take HRT due to family history of gynaecological cancers including breast cancer. I treat the symptoms as best I can. Vagifem for vaginal atrophy (and it helps my bladder issues as well), magnesium to help me sleep, calcium for my osteopenia, minoxidil + spironolactone for my hair loss. I find staying well hydrated helps reduce hot flushes most of the time. I tried antidepressants for the hot flushes but they didn't agree with me. I don't have any choice, so I just crack on. Friends who take HRT stress enormously about having to stop it some day, so sometimes I feel like my situation is better in the long run.

Thanks @Flutterbees

I'm the same, can't take HRT as I now have incurable hormone driven cancer.

I've got some magnesium spray to ( hopefully) help me sleep and I've bought Ovesse from Boots for my sore skin. Vagifem doesn't seem to be helping my VA and bladder issues though. I've bought Bee and Olive cream and also Dr Wolf cream, so hoping that might help. Taking Veoza for flushes, which do help I think.

It's all very high maintenance!

People should never say that they don't ever intend on coming off HRT because they never know what they are going to be diagnosed with, which will force them off HRT.

I had a complete hysterectomy and ovaries removed last year. I am also taking Tamoxifen as was diagnosed with hormone fed breast cancer in 2021. I had menopause systems as soon as I started taking the Tamoxifen. A few months of taking it I researched supplements I could take to ease symptoms and now take one called Femal. Here is the link to their website https://www.femal.co.uk/pages/is-femal-right-for-me
It is recommended by Professor Nick Panay Queen who is a Menopause specialist and works at the following institutions:-
Charlotte's & Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals
Imperial College London
President Elect, International Menopause
Society Director, International Centre for Hormone Health
It states he has been recommending this to his patients who are not able to take HRT or do not wish to do so.
I do get hot flushes and my bladder control is not great, but I do think they are working.

@francy99 Thankyou.
I've just bought Menopace Plus from Boots. Hoping it may do something. These supplements are costing an arm and a leg!

Do you take localised oestrogen for vaginal and bladder health?

No HRT here. Hormone driven womb cancer and hysterectomy. Also not allowed any supplements that may mimic oestrogen.
I take paroxetine, an antidepressant off license for hot flushes and that's been a life saver.

No, I haven’t investigated anything for my bladder health. I think I suffer with urge incontinence. I don’t want to take any oestrogen as my cancer was oestrogen positive. After my hysterectomy have done my pelvic floor exercises religiously.
