Different doses of estrogen at different times of cycle?

Hi all. I'm wondering if anyone else follows a regimen of adding more estrogen pumps leading up to their period? I had my hrt review this week and told the doctor I'm struggling with symptoms in the 2 weeks before period and they advised adding a pump (so going up to 4 pumps) during that time and then dropping back to 3 for the other 2 weeks.

It sounded logical at the time and I was relieved to be able to try out something which might help but I've since researched it a bit more and can't find any info on the Internet about this being a "thing".

Anyone do it or heard of it?

Thanks

When you say “period”, what sort of progesterone are you on? Hrt is usually imposing a cycle on top of your natural cycle so I don’t quite get this idea…generally if you need to go up a pump because of symptoms you just go up a pump continuously . You are always going to be getting ups and downs because our natural hormones are reducing in an erratic fashion during peri, the oestrogen replacement is trying to give you a more consistent level in your body to reduce symptoms as that natural process happens. P.s. if you are on the coil rather than other progesterone replacements meds this “might” make sense, I’m on gel plus mirena and I do have patches of feeling I need “ more” but I’m on 4 pumps so as high as I can go.

Hi Hencewy, I'm on a high dose of progesterone, 300mg 14 days a month. This was because my natural cycle had settled at 21 days for a couple of years before HRT. I'm have a copper coil so no other progesterone going in to me. I also thought that I'd by put up to 4 pumps across the whole month. The doctor did say if I'm seeing symptoms outside of the 2 weeks before my period I could then go to 4 every day. Wish I'd had the wherewithal to query it on the call as I'm supposedly in a "good" bit of my cycle right now (so according to her I'd only use 3 pumps) and I'm feeling bloody rotten!
