Post Menopause HRT

I'm a bit anxious about starting HRT in case of side affects making things worse but I have a prescription filled for Evorel 50 patches and Utrogestan 100mg capsules.
Three years since my last period. Symptoms of disrupted sleep due to hot flushes, running permanently hot, low libido, aching joints and muscle weakness.

I am interested in the experiences of other women who have started these medications post menopause, if possible.

It says on the box that I should take the urogestan days one to twenty five of cycle, but I have no cycle and I did tell my doctor this. Google tells me I can take them every day. Curious to know what others do.

I believe it's best to take them at bedtime? And those of you with experience of using patches and tables, did you start them on the same day?

I know it's probably different for everybody, but how did you feel at first? I fear migraines and mood swings mainly.

Thank you for any replies!

I used these - took the Utrogestan nightly without a break, changed the patch Monday and Friday evenings after a shower. No side effects like migraines or mood swings as the patches deliver a consistent dose.
some women like the sedatory effect of the Utrogestan, and if you find it makes you groggy the following morning, try taking it earlier the previous evening. I found after the first month or so it made no difference to my sleep
it’s generally recommended to use HRT for three months then review with your doctor to see how it’s working in helping your symptoms

Thank you for your reply @over50andfab Why did you stop taking it?

I had a small fibroid that didn’t get in with it and caused spotting for 2-3 years despite tweaking the dose. After a hysteroscopy and a chat with the consultant I decided to come off it. I still use topical/local estrogen for vaginal atrophy though with no issues

Thank you. Sorry about having a hysterectomy though. Appreciate your reply!

Thank you. Sorry about having a hysterectomy though. Appreciate your reply!

Just to clarify, I had a hysteroscopy rather than a hysterectomy - easy to mix the two. This is an investigation to find the cause of any bleeding from the womb.
Hope it goes well for you and symptoms improve.
