Jittery and anxious

Hello. Is there anything that helps with this feeling of jitteryness and anxiety apart from hrt?

I may try hrt again but I have other health concerns and it pushed my BP up last time.

I can't exercise either due to illness. 🙄

I've done some meditation but maybe I need to be more routine with it and disciplined.

Magnesium. I find both the Glycinate and the Threonate help with the awful anxiety I get in the night that stops me sleeping.

How do you take it?

Capsules, you can buy them on Amazon.

I also find I sleep a lot better in the two weeks a month when I take Utrogestan. My HRT is Evorel 75 plus Utrogestan two weeks on and two weeks off.

Same here and interested in Magnesium Glycinate as I've heard good things, but has anyone found a reputable source which isn't just a random healthcare company on Amazon?
I'm astonished that people so happily ingest substances bought online with no idea of their source/ whether they are from regulated companies etc!

Im also finding lots of upbeat music helps! Amazon music + Alexa have become helpful.

Gardening. Being in fresh air, growing stuff. There is something about getting windswept and muddy then coming in for a cup of tea and a shower that really helps me.

Cut out alcohol and reduce caffeine and sugar too. I’ve switched to green tea.

Magnesium if any kind except oxide is good; capsules in the morning, salts in the bath and the spray stuff on your skin at night. I can tell if I have missed any part of this as the jitters come back.

scrapedandfuriousviper · 14/10/2024 10:26

@LlamaDrama20 I think Solgar do some

I take HRT but the only thing that stopped the jittery feelings and waves of anxiety that seem to come out of nowhere was starting a low dose of Fluoxetine (Prozac). I was very reluctant to go down this route (never suffered from depression or anxiety before) but it's been a game changer for me and I am able to function really well now.

Mumteedum · 14/10/2024 13:57

Thanks all.

I'm not keen to go down the Prozac route unless it gets worse. I feel like I'm still on a sort of cycle and this is like pmt only I don't get the period. I have like one or two a year now.

I like the upbeat music suggestion @NavyJumpers ...that's a nice thought. Can't do much gardening but when I'm doing better I can tinker about a bit.

I'm having a lot less alcohol and caffeine but maybe I need to go to none for a bit, until the jitters subside. It's awful this last week or so.

I have magnesium spray and salts for pain relief for my illness, but I'll look up supplement tablets.

Going completely caffeine free, low carb diet and lots of exercise has helped me enormously. My anxiety was ridiculous before this.

Unfortunately I can't exercise due to chronic illness. Walking was my thing before I got ill 😔

I find the easy level yoga/ stretching and meditations on FitOn very helpful to bring me down when I have heightened anxiety.
