The nurse practitioner tried four times to get the camera through the cervix and into my womb and was not able to do it. I knew I had previous scarring - I didn't know or had not remembered it was called Asherman's syndrome. It is characterised by the bonding of scar tissue that lines the walls of the uterus, which decreases the volume of the uterine cavity. It looks as if scar tissue may have bonded over the cervix maybe?
I've been referred to the consultant clinic next. The nurse practitioner said that the consultant is best placed to do the procedure in this case. I asked what would happen if they were not able to get into the womb again and was told the consultant would come up with a treatment plan/next steps. I really hope that they don't say hysterectomy.
I don't know what I am asking for by posting. It just feels a bit overwhelming.
On the plus side, the nurses were brilliant, and I had gas and air to help with the pain.
ETA: The internal scan last week showed that I have a thickened womb lining. I have been postmenopausal for 2.5 years and have been taking Evoral 75 for about a year.
