What does it mean to skip a period?

I’m 52, periods still regular as can be - except the last one which was 10 days late, and the upcoming one which is currently 4 days late.

what does it mean to ‘skip’ a period? Does it mean that it doesn’t come one month but then comes when it would have been expected in the next month? Or something else?

i don’t think my periods will ever stop 🙄 even my younger sister seems to be further along the menopause track than I am. And she’s on hrt and I’m not 🤷‍♀️ I’m in a country (France) where there is a lot of reluctance to prescribe hrt until properly menopausal ie 12 months of no period.

I would say a period has been skipped when one doesn't come until the it's almost time for the next.

It isn't only the period that skips, it is the whole menstrual cycle.
