Just that. Have lots of symptoms but not night sweats and have regular periods. GP says that the amount of oestrogen in the pill and hrt is the same ? Is this true ? Has anyone had this experience ?

ive had exactly this same situation so no advice but I was left scratching my head but I have started the pill and have had a positive experience

I think you need to ask to see another GP, preferably one who follows NICE Guidelines and has had at least an hour's training on menopause and HRT.

Are you in an area with a menopause clinic or similar, do you know?

OSU · 18/09/2024 10:47

The pill contains synthetic hormones and modern topical HRT contains body identical hormones that have no risk of blood clot and less other pill related side effects. I don't understand why the pill would be seen as preferable unless you also need contraception?

Bearpawk · 18/09/2024 10:50

NHS websites states that if you have premature/early menopause (before 40 or 45h it's important to take EITHER combined pill or HRT to increase oestrogen.
Did you ask why he has ruled out HRT for you?

Yes a GP whose had an hours training on HRT and the menopause and you can also look on the British menopause society website to see if there’s any specialist in your area.

Thanks all. No menopause clinics here sadly...ill make another appointment and see if I can get any further. She was a trainee and was relaying information from her senior gp colleague. I think they are reluctant to give me hrt as I don't have hot flushes and have a regular period..but I have loads of the other symptoms .....!

Ive just stopped taking HRT Elleste Duet Conti Was ok for the first three months until last week when i started a heavy period that hasnt stopped. As opposed to mini pill for the last three years and no periods Bliss And its not just the period Itself Its the pain. Its the piles. its the soreness from the bleeding. Its the period shits. Nope Not for me. Love to know how all this is supposed to help the libido. My sex drive wasnt actually affected pre HRT. Now though............

This - but if you need contraception you can take the mini pill (progesterone only) alongside HRT, so you can still have HRT.

JenniferBooth · 18/09/2024 14:59

Im staying on the mini pill as i need to and hoping that will stop the bleeding

Usernameisnotavailabletryagain · 18/09/2024 19:09

This happened to me too with the added complication that I'm not in the UK. I think the pill is helping so maybe worth a try?

OSU · 20/09/2024 13:40

Evorel Conti has synthetic progesterone. Best solution is transdermal oestrogen only with micronised progesterone taken either orally or vaginally.

Glad you find the mini pill works for you though Smile
