Horrendous night sweats

I've been getting awful nights sweats on and off for past two years (I'm now 43), hrt didn't help, private endocrinologist did lots of blood tests and fsh tests, none showed signs of peri. Apparently.
Tests for lymphoma etc. bloods normal.
I'm going to assume peri as the gp doesn't care.
Anyway, the sweats stink. Our mattress is fully zipped up now in waterproof case, I have waterproof pillow cases and sleep in a light weight blanket. The extra washing is soul destroying..pillowcases and pajamas every day at least.
Any tips to help? Even a fabric spray to stop our bed smelling?
Weirdly it doesn't happen when we go away. It really makes me miserable.

hrt didn't help,

How many types and what doses have you tried? How long were you using it?

It's likely you need to try more types and a higher dose of estrogen.

Before you say HRT didn't work, it's really important to try several types till you find one that does.

I'd focus all your efforts on finding the right doctor to help with this.

If your GP won't help, and you can afford it, see a private gynaecologist who specialises in menopause. The BMS has a list although it's not fully inclusive (there are others who are excellent who aren't listed.) But it's a start.

It will also give you many other benefits as you're pretty young at 42 to be suffering like this. Yes, meno can be from 45-55 and peri can last for a good while, but the average post meno age is 51.

Are you periods irregular?

I bought wicking pyjamas.

It just meant they absorbed more sweat and I woke up in really sopping wet pjs.

For me I use fleecy ones. Don't know why but I seem to sweat less.

I've been prescribed Clonidine tablets solely for menopause sweats. I'm not on HRT. the tablets have definitely helped.

Another one chiming in to say memory foam mattresses are notorious for making people sweat, they’re not breathable is my understanding. Maybe you could try a natural fibre mattress topper if a new mattress is out of the question.

Regular like clockwork.
Two types and progesterone only pill. No relief and they gave me insomnia. Three months each and I couldn't take no sleep on top of a snoring husband and a toddler who gets up at the crack of dawn every day.

It's probably still worth your while to see another meno specialist. If you see someone privately, it's usually very different to a GP. They can prescribe different doses and different ways of using it that are off-label.

Two types is not many, to be honest.

What did you try?

For example, there are at least 5 types of progesterone.
There's the Mirena coil.
Femoston (tablets) that contain dydrogesterone
Utrogestan (micronied progesterone)
Norethisterone (in some patches and tablets)
MPA

Each of these can be used with any type of estrogen (gel, patch, tablet, spray).

Utrogestan can be used vaginally (off licence) which can help either way with sleeping/ not sleeping.

There is also a 3-monthly cycle type- Trisequens - which is good for women in peri..

Unless you have some other type of endocrine disease, which appear to have been ruled out, this is really your only way forward.
Mattresses and bedding are a sticking plaster- they aren't addressing the problem itself.

I don't know where you live, but the SE and London especially have a lot of excellent meno specialists.
