Blood test results

Could anyone please help me decipher my blood test results? Dr states all normal but my symptoms are really starting to affect me, and my poor family

For reference I'm 44, previously diagnosed with pcos and this test was done halfway through my cycle, which weirdly has become more regular since getting meno symptoms.

Any observations greatly appreciated thanks

As far as I can see the results essentially fall within the ranges of someone who is not approaching menopause and certainly not menopausal (according to the ranges used by the NHS). Your FSH, which is (I think) the main test they use to determine how close you are to menopause, is normal so your body is not having to work hard to ovulate. It rises the closer you are to menopause. It stands for follicle stimulating hormone - so the hormone that stimulates you to ovulate.

Luteinizing hormone (LH) has lots of functions within the menstrual cycle - bit too much to list here but essentially that’s also pretty much fine so you are ovulating and then it’s doing its thing to get ready to support a pregnancy, among other things.

Basically your reproductive system is still functioning normally - so according to the NHS you don’t need HRT. I’m guessing that’s what you went for? Have they done any other investigations into your symptoms?

The cut off point for using blood tests is 45. So being 44 is close enough anyway for them not to be used.

The blood test thing is a bit of a red herring anyway.
It's used to make sure there are no other 'hidden' diseases rather than diagnosing peri meno. And it's more relevant in very young women under 30/40 who may have POI.

I can't read your results very well on the post.
Which is the normal
range and which is yours?
Is the first box the normal range and your results in the 2nd box down?
Is your FSH23?
This is high as over 25/ 30 is considered post menopausal.

TBH there shouldn't be this faff over blood tests or HRT being withheld because they are 'normal'.

If you have symptoms, you should ask to use HRT for 3-6 months and see if they improve.

They haven't investigated anything else and I was just told my bloods were normal. I jad to push for the print out and wasn't given any info on hiw to interpret.

If I'm reading it right my lh was 7.3 and my fsh 4.8

I wasn't asked where I was in my cycle, or offered a second test two weeks later, but checking back on my diary I can see I was right in the middle so my results are at the low end/just under the reference ranges they've quoted.

I've joined the gym today and have started up my vitamin regime again, trying to everything I can to see what difference I can make and then in 6 months I'll be asking for hrt if things haven't improved, as I'll be 45 then

I've gradually put on 4 stone over the last 4 years so I have a lot of work to do, hoping that will help all the other symptoms too

Thanks for your input both
