Drunk feeling / dizziness with Utrogestran progesterone capsule

I've only recently started HRT, about three weeks in, a combo of oestrogen gel and progesterone capsules. I'd been noticing that I was having dizzy spells at night, but thought it was to do with exhaustion from the madly active holiday I was on with the kids, but have since taken notice of the time I get the dizziness and it's happening shortly after taking the capsule. It feels like being suddenly drunk, which I don't like! Do I persist for a couple of months to see if it settles? Is this a normal thing?

Are you taking it last thing at night before you get into bed?

The leaflet says do it then because it can cause dizziness for a short time.

If you're getting up at night soon after taking it then yes, this can happen.

I used to take them while getting reatfor bed and found by the time.i got into bed.i definitely felt dopey. Only lasted the first 2 months I think (I took them cyclically,.so not very day). It does pass as you get used to them.

I take this combo OP and have to use the progesterone vaginally because of a gut problem (absorption). Might that work better for you?

Like any new medicine you need to give it a few months to get used to it. Side effects stop as your body adapts.
With progesterone (or any medication) it’s obviously important to follow instructions on how/when to take it.

I used to be on Utrogestan and it made me very drowsy. They recommend taking it at bedtime due to this, I did sleep like a log. Unfortunately I am very intolerant to Progesterone so had to stop taking it.

The dizziness is something that occurs no matter how long you've taken it.
It's not so much a side effect that diminishes in time, as a reaction (and I think it's caused by a drop in blood pressure.)

Yes, I do take it at night, so at least I'm lying down when the dizziness strikes. Apart from last night when I'd got into bed and then DS16 wanted to show me something on the piano 😆 I'll stick with it and see how it goes. Thanks all for the replies.
