Hi everyone. Just wanted to ask a few questions regarding on hrt and your experiences on it. I have been to the dr a few times over the last few years regarding perimenopause each time being told I’m too young. My periods are erratic and have been for 3 years. From flooding to nothing for 2 months. I’ve not slept at all well the last 6 weeks and have notices my skin in my arms and tummy are looking more like a 70year old woman’s than someone in their 40s. Hip pain and spots on my face, dryness, dry and itchy skin -all classic symptoms minus the sweats. I booked in to see the nurse on the 2nd of September but after mulling it over (and worried I’d be sent away for blood tests or simply being told I’m too young again) I went through boots and got the Esterogel and utrogestan prescribed to me. I started taking this last Tuesday (2 pumps at night time). Since then my bowels (sorry for tmi!) have been a lot looser in the mornings). Has anybody else had the same experience? At this time of so much changes it makes you worry there is something wrong with you! Also, slightly more edgy and anxious since taking it too. Nothing I can’t cope with though! Thanks for any advice in advance 😊

How many pumps of gel are you using?
It generally takes around 3 months to settle so worth persevering. If no improvement you may wish to consider patches.

I use two pumps at night time. I think because peri is quite an anxious time I’ve got myself stuck in a funk thinking something else is wrong with me. I know it can take a few months to see any improvement in symptoms, I just wondered is estrogel has upset any one else’s tummy too (or if I carry on worrying that something else is wrong 😄). I will still be seeing the nurse on the 2nd and I will speak to her about it (and also if I can have my hrt on nhs prescription going forward as I’m presuming it’ll work out cheaper than boots) but just wanted a bit of reassurance to stop me worrying about it 😊

I got told apply the gel morning time on the nhs prescription and I take progesterone in the evenings. I have resisted going up in number of pumps as not sure about it as I started on the progesterone capsules first which gave massive relief from the awful fibroid so it maybe skewed my mind and couple of people warned you feel back to square one after a while so I was hoping to avoid that if I’d maxed out to soon.
