Teeth and menopause

Just wondering if people's teeth have been affected?

I am 52 and have noticed gums receding and feelings of 'itchy' teeth!

I visit hygienist and dentist twice each year, but teeth feel more sensitive (I use sensodyne).

Wise mumsnetters, any advice?

It seems as though every joint and bone in my body including my teeth is more sensitive these days! The joint pain moves from one day to the next so I’m certain declining hormones are to blame xx still only use the cheapest fluoride toothpaste I can get so can’t answer on the benefits if sensodyne 😉

Loss of estrogen causes gums to shrink and also reduces the density of your jaw bone. You probably already know that more teeth are lost through gum disease then decay.

I've not heard of extra sensitivity.
