I'm 45 and feel like I need help now with my symptoms. I'm a bit nervous as I saw a dr a few years ago and they gave me a blood test, told me everything was normal and that I was too young g to be peri.

This time I want to go in prepared. What do I need to do before I'm called in for my appointment. What has other's experiences been?

If you're seeing the dr about getting HRT, then you need to keep it simple.

What do I need to do before I'm called in for my appointment.

Slightly confused by this question. Do you mean on the day or do you mean what you need to read and research beforehand?

Say you've come about starting HRT.
Describe your symptoms.
Say you've read a lot online (you could quote some medical sites) about risks and benefits and you want to give it a 3 month trial.

I wouldn't bring up your previous experience which may have been unhelpful at the time.
Blood tests are unreliable and some women are in peri in their early 40s.
Now you are 45 you don't need tests (NICE guidance.)
You can read it here.

Use the blue links for more information- like diagnosis, treatments, etc.

Also don't be fobbed off with other drugs like anti depressants as they are no longer given to women (NICE) unless they can't use HRT.

Really positive with the GP surgery, maybe let down by a hospital but not in local surgery. Called when upset though having been told by sexual health clinic on attempted coil removal we see signs of va and the receptionist knew just who to get me to see.

I got to see advanced nurse practitioner a week later whose specialties are menopause and peri so never went before the gp.

Before the appointment I did search questions to ask but promptly forgot when in the room! I’d cheered up by this point and went there moody which probably helped the cause no end! (yep here is a woman heading for the change)

For my second review a fortnight later, I did take a box of biscuits with me!
(I have been fortunate to tolerate hrt well) loads of support groups online with women having different experiences, problems and on different regimes.

Anything else and the why’s are totally above me.
