Vitamins for joints after early menopause

I went through menopause around age 37/38 and am now nearing 50. I'm on HRT, am well past menopause and have very minimal symptoms but my joints ache. I'm going to start strength training but can anyone recommend any supplements or vitamins that they feel has really helped?

My mum swears by Nutravita, organic tumeric, black pepper and ginger I think it is. She said it took about two weeks to kick in bit she's had it for years now and no aches. I'm going to sort when mine arrive!

Hi, can I can I ask when you went through menopause at 38 was it natural or brought on due to hysterectomy? I'm 38 and having to have a hysterectomy in two weeks time to which I will then go straight into menopause as its a total hysterectomy. Is it as bad as it sounds severe hot flushes, agitation etc or is it manageable. You hear so many horror stories about menopause but I'm sure there are positive ones out there. Any info would be appreciated.

I was going to say similar, I use the Nutrition Geeks Turmeric tablets, but the ingredients are the same.

I had my ovaries kept but they went to sleep for a good fortnight to a month after my surgery. I did experience hot flushes and anxiety, both of which faded as they woke up. So it is possible you will experience issues straight away. Sadly impossible to tell what symptoms you'll get, but a good multivit and diet will help. And get an appt booked in to discuss HRT as soon as you can - don't be fobbed off.

I take vits designed for over 50s now (Centrum) but it's been hrt, stretches and strength building (via a physio) that has made the most difference.

Health and her vitamins are fantastic, they have 4 different ones for perimenopause (a general, one for intimacy, one for gut biome and one for mind). I take 3 of them and they are hugely helpful. Often on deal at Sainsbury's or Holland and Barrett. They also have post menopause versions. Good luck

I've just started a string turmeric and black pepper supplement and it's helped my joint pain no end. Only took a couple of days to take effect.

Thank you for thw info. I take a peri menopause vitamin now as it contains lots and I have seen a vitamin by Dr Vegan that is supposed to be good so I have bought that in ready and I will be started on HRT on week 3 after my operation. Thankfully I'm with BUPA so I have had a lot more info and help than I would if I had gone through the NHS. In my mind I'm prepared for the worst but I'm just scared in all honesty.

Just have to take things day by day really. HRT at 3 weeks is great. Hopefully with BUPA and support around at home for the first few weeks, the impact won't be too bad. There are some good support groups around too on social media.

Hi, no it was natural. I think I missed signs as I had years of IVF (no one with my blood tests thought to warn or explain the possibility) and then pregnancy.

I take high dose of omega 3 and also turmeric, it was the omega 3 for me that got rid of general aches and tumeric for joint pain. Went through it for a year before I tried it, was awful ! Gp was no help at all

Youtookmyhandle · 12/01/2025 20:35

I'm taking collagen type 2 for joint care and Vitabiotics joint ace.
