Heavy bleeding

Hi,

Was trying to find out what is "normal" - I'm 54, was investigated for continuous light bleeding last year, a polyp was discovered & removed in Oct but ovaries / ovary was still "functioning". Bleeding stopped in Oct 2023.
However, on 4th June this year I had a period - normal bleed but not light. Since then, I have bled continuously - since 10th July very very heavy, large clots (sorry tmi) & having to change pad every hour even at night. It's eased off with the clots but still heavy & bright red blood.
I'm on Elleste Duet Conti 2mg/1mg tablets - coming to the end of the 2nd months tablets & now getting the cramps again - it feels like this bleeding is not going to stop!
I've got a drs appointment for 9th August (despite requesting one since 10th July, this is the earliest I can get!) but feel like I can't go on much longer!
Is this normal - I feel (hope) this is my last hurrah but it's not looking like it'll stop.........

Horrible.

In the short term take ibuprofen every 4 hours. This will help stop the flow.
If you can get to a pharmacy buy Tranexamic acid which is like ibuprofen but stronger. Speak to the pharmacist if you need to, for advice.

There is info on the NHS website on this saying the same thing.

Longer term discuss the Mirena coil with your GP? You probably need to change your HRT maybe less estrogen,as 2mg is quite a high dose when you are still ovulating

Thank you so much @JinglingSpringbells !

A visit to the pharmacy is in order for me tomorrow....I hadn't realised how worried I was until I couldn't get in to see the GP.

At least when I do go next week, I can go pre-armed with informed questions...though hopefully it will have abated somewhat...

This time of life can be a bugger!
