This is my first cycle of taking HRT

The label on the box says take day 14 - 28 of your cycle

However the leaflet inside the box says day 15 - 26

Can anyone advise on which is correct?

If you start your HRT on day 14 or 15 of your cycle as advised, do you start counting day 1 again on the first date of your next period regardless of when it arrives or do you keep it to the same date every month?

I find this so complicated and I thought I was a relatively competent person. I worked out what day 1 of my cycle was (period)which coincided with me starting to take HRT. And then counted 15 days and took utrogestan. And then went forth counting days without any further reference to whether I had a period at any particular time. I'm hoping that's right. Otherwise things could become very erratic.

I started my period on the first of the month so took my pills last night however I found conflicting information on wether I would keep taking the 15th of every month or 15 days after my last pill or 15 days after my period starts 🤷🏻‍♀️

My OH (female) was told to take them on 1st of the month regardless of her cycle. That was by the newsom clinic (menopause specialists).

I think you need to count 28 days as that's the length of a cycle. So that won't be the same date each month. I use the calender on my phone and set alarms for the 15th day of every 28 days (if you see what I mean). On a rolling basis.

Ignoring your periods apart from the date of the very first period you had when you started Hrt. As that's how you know what the first day of your cycle is and then count every 28 days going forward.

Sorry...I probably confused you even more!

Iwouldratherbemuckingout · 16/07/2024 07:31

When I started taking it I'd not had any periods for a few months, doctor told me just to pick a day and count it as day 1 as no clear cycle anymore. Then I just put reminders in my phone and stuck to number of days rather than going by any period that may or may not happen (in my case)

Okay so counting 28 days rather than menstrual cycle or date on the calendar, that makes sense .... thank you everyone!

It's easier to take it on the same day each month . Another poster has posted this above. The Newson clinic suggests that as does my consultant gynae ( more qualified than the Newson drs.)

This means it's 14 days over a 30 day cycle.

So if you took it today, you'd start again on the same DATE in August.

So I ended up phoning the GP and their answer was .... either option is fine! They said in theory counting your 28 days is what's advised however it's better to be taking it regularly rather than possibly confuse your days so if taking it on the same date each month is easier to remember then that's the better option.

Thanks everyone for your input 😊
