Timing for progesterone

I've just switched from patches to gel plus oral progesterone. I'm prescribed to take the progesterone days 15-26 of my cycle. This is the first cycle and I'm on day 18, so have had 3 days of progesterone and my period has arrived.

Does thay mean I'm back at day one and I don't need to take more progestone until day 15? With the combined patches it was all a very regular 27/28 days.

It's normal to have a blip when changing types of HRT.

You can't continue trying to fit Utrogestan around your cycles because they won't be 28 day cycle in peri. You could go 8 weeks with no period, and then longer.

You should complete the 12 days of Utrogestan now.

The best thing to do is to make a note of the date when you started Utrogestan (3 days ago) and then start it again on that date in August - and keep on doing that. Eventually it will override your own cycles and create an HRT regular cycle.

Before I was on HRT my cycle had become unpredictable with some as long as 75 days. Once I started the patches they became a very regular 27/28 days, until now.

I have had the worst PMS ever the last few days, although didn't realise that's what it was and thought I was losing my mind.

You've answered your own question.

Any change in HRT can result in your own cycle - whatever length is it- coming back.

The change in HRT has promoted your early period.

Once you get into the new type it wil settle down again.

Yes, I realised there'd be some disruption, I'm just not sure what to do with the tablets, as it says to take them days 15-26 and I'm now back to day 1.

This is one of the reasons I've decided not to not take HRT because I can't tolerate progesterone. It makes me so awful. Like pmt on steroids. I can't subject my children to how I'd be on it. Not unless my symptoms really ramp up and the benefits outweigh the risks.
I hope things settle down OP. I'm coming back as a man next time. Or a cat!

Follow what I said above.
You need to complete the 12 days regardless of bleeding now.

Look at it another way.

If you were taking pills or using a ptch, would you stop taking the rest of the pills containing both hormones if you bled early? ie would you throw almost half the remaining pack away?

if you bled early on a patch, 18 days through the box, would you stop using the other 10 patches that have estrogen + Norethisterone in them and jump straight to the estrogen-only patches in the new box?

No.

So this is no different.

It's only that the 2 items come separately.

Thank you

Interestingly, I've just realised my worst PMS outburst came the day I started the progesterone, but I didn't take it until bedtime, so not related to that, but it did come 3 days before my "period" which was always the worst day for me.
